We had perfect stay at Rooms and Wine al Castello, and cannot recommend this historic, family property highly enough.

Excellent communication and ease of check-in. Beautiful room, and gorgeous shared sitting room space. Thoughtful lux touches for breakfast, tea and coffee. Our room had a wonderful view of the piazza. Staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

The room was comfortable with a great view and the food and service were excellent.

The view from the window was lovely. It was great being able to spend the night in this old castle town. The dinner and breakfast here were excellent. There was a nice common area with books and refreshments which was very inviting. Really pleasant.

It was quite expensive compared to other places we had stayed.

Wonderful Tuscany experience!

Highly recommend! Perfect location and very friendly and helpful owners who are onsite and wishing to ensure the perfect stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and generous. The walled town of Monteriggioni is stunning - early morning walks and evening walks through the walled village was a nice break from the hustle of bustle of larger cities. Very cute shops near by and nice dinner options. Free parking also available.

Lovely room in great location but expensive

Staff were lovely, free glass on wine in lieu of a wine tasting. Lovely old room with renovated private bathroom and well stocked with tea, coffee including pod machine. Good shower. Very good breakfast. Great location within the castle walls and facing the piazza. Could drive in and drop luggage and then park for free in their car park outside the castle - about 10 minute walk.

Expensive in comparison to other comparable places we've stayed in Tuscany - we'd hoped to eat at the restaurant but it was only serving snack plates. 3pm checkin is late particularly when tired from walking the Via Francigena.

While Monteriggioni is a cute town, it’s almost better as a stop rather than a stayover.

The location was nice, right inside the town gate. It was quiet at night.

The room was just ok, nothing special. Functional. The owner of the wine bar downstairs was rude and should let his knowledgeable waiter handle the public!

An Amazing Stay in a Pretty Town

We were hiking the Via Francigena and wanted a place near the trail - this property fit the bill. This property is sitting right in the plaza of the lovely town of Monteriggioni. After the touristy city of San Gimignano, this walled city is much more laid back and, for my money, more enjoyable. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable, with multiple windows facing away from the plaza. Very nice. The bathroom was a good size, also. Overall, a very nice property. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding. The pastries were clearly baked on-site and were absolutely delicious. The staff was very attentive and would get you just about anything you wanted. Highly recommended. A free wine-tasting was included with the room. Unfortunately, we missed out due to meeting people elsewhere, but if the breakfast is any indication, the wine-tasting was probably excellent, also.

A perfect place to stay

This is an exceptional place to stay. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was big and the shower was large and very efficient. As guests we were treated to a free and generous wine tasting of 2 delicious wines produced by the owners own vineyard. The location, right on the central square of the village, was perfect.

Excellent A+++

Stefano, his wife and the other staff were extremely attentive from the beginning. The wine tasting was an invaluable plus! But my biggest compliment goes to the decoration and cleanliness of the room, in addition to the enormous consideration they have for women: they have hair conditioner in the bathroom. It may seem silly, but we women know the difference this makes since it has become a rare item. Congratulations to whoever thought of this and I will go back there every time I go to Monteriggioni.

Perfect stay in glorious Monteriggioni

Located within the castle, all rooms are newly and tastefully refurbished and the bathrooms are lovely. Staff are friendly and you get a free wine tasting thrown in. Breakfast is provided along with filtered water and tea and coffee in the rooms.

The best 10+ stay in Monteriggioni !!!

We loved EVERYTHING about the property. Fantastic location inside the castle. The owners were very, very nice. Had a long conversation with the wife who was super helpful answering questions regarding best options for transportation from Siena to Rome/Airport. Our room was Spotless. We always gravitate to reviews that mention the words “very clean and or spotless”. Definitely deserves a 10+++ rating.

The rooms are sizeable and comfortable with good views

This is in a fort and there are not many areas to visit outside of the walls. You should have a car. Parking was very challenging to find for the room and the address was wrong in the Booking app. Also, the air conditioner was very weak in one of the rooms.

Stefano was very accommodating and helpful, and the place was lovely. Very clean, in a historic building located in the center of the place with a very comfortable bed. We had a great stay for one night, and we almost overslept! You can access free parking provided by the host, but we messed up and parked at the main parking - not much of a problem, though. It costs EUR 7 for 24h. By 11 AM, you can drive your car right to the front of the hotel to pick up your stuff, which is very convenient.

Our room (No. 6) didn't have AC. At first, it seemed a problem as the temperature was tropical with 37 centigrade. We did open the window during the night and used the fan in the room, and in the end, it was ok.

Such a lovely place to stay while walking the Via Francigena. Big beautiful room with a view of one of the highlights, Monteriggioni, of the walk. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Good restaurants very near as well. Do yourself a favor and stay here for a night!
