Sapa Fantasea Homestay

Cha and Chin were very friendly and their kids were gorgeous! Lovely to get a feel for their life in the hills. The homestay was situated in a small group of other houses and was basic but comfortable - we had a room on the top floor and the bed and pillows were good. Meal with the family was fun and delicious and we enjoyed helping to prepare it. The home made rice wine was a bonus! Great base for doing some walks, although it rained for the 3 days we were there, so we only managed a couple of small strolls to the suspension bridge (it's close on the map but a lot further in reality given the ups and downs and twists and turns of the trails!). Getting to the homestay was an adventure in itself as the property didn't show up on Grab maps. A bit of map matching pinpointed the spot and we ended up booking grab bikes down from SaPa and Chin organised bikes for the return journey (which was less hair-raising than the trip down!).

The rain! Another comfy seat or two on the verandah would have been nice given we were hemmed in by the rain.

The host family is lovely, very kind and generous and really make you feel at home even if you (like us) are coming from far away. We walked away with not only an unforgettable experience but with a lot of knowledge about the local culture and history. I will recommend this to all my friends.
