Town: The western shore of Holy Island is where you'll find Trearddur Bay. It's breath-taking with miles of sandy beaches and rocky coves tucked into a broad, grassy peninsula (European Blue Flag). In the summertime, most visitors come to Holyhead to play golf or enjoy the excellent 18-hole links course or to partake in one of the many watersports available. The South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve is a great place to go birdwatching, and there are also many rock pools and cliff top walks to discover. Trearddur Bay has its own selection of shops, pubs, and restaurants, and the larger town of Holyhead is just a short drive away, where you can take advantage of even more services, such as a top-notch leisure centre, a picturesque waterfront, a marina, the second-longest breakwater in the world, and thrilling ferry excursions to Dublin. If you find yourself in Holyhead, be sure to check out the Maritime Museum's excellent cafe and the beautiful Holyhead Breakwater Country Park, where you can go for walks. In addition to Beaumaris, which is home to a town and castle, there is the beautiful Newborough, which boasts an excellent forest and beach. There's a lot to see and do in this fantastic area.
