The Space:
Welcome to Black Oak Brake! The brick stairway, expansive front yard and circular drive make for a regal and private entrance. As you enter the cabin you’ll find a spacious living space with a gas fireplace. The couch is large and comfortable with more than enough seating for 8 and overlooks the trees and beautiful surroundings outside. Entering the kitchen you'll find a gorgeous wood burning fireplace, dining area and seating to hangout and relax. Just past the kitchen you will find a large dining room filled with sunlight and a gas fireplace to make your family dinners even more magical and peaceful. Relax on screened in porch with a ceiling fan, comfortable seating and a propane grill on the adjoining balcony.

– Bedroom 1 - (second floor) King Bed with full bathroom
– Bedroom 2 - (first floor) Queen Bed with shared bathroom

Our cabin is located in The Woods Resort, a private community with an 18-hole golf course (with low green fees), spa, a restaurant and pub, and miles of walking/hiking trails. It’s considered the best course in the area, and the pub food is pretty great too!
During your stay, you'll have access to the members-only Sports Center, the perfect option for a wintery or rainy day (and just a 5 minute walk from the cabin). The Sports Center includes:
- Indoor heated swimming pool
- Large whirlpool
- Tennis court
- Racquetball court
- Multi-purpose court for volleyball and basketball
- Fully equipped exercise room with free-weights and many workout machines
The Sports Center is members-only, but we’ve set aside complimentary guest passes just for you! Passes will be available at the property—check the house manual for details on where to find them. If you need more during your stay, simply reach out and we’ll be happy to assist.

We had a wonderful stay. The beds are super comfy. The living room, dining room and kitchen are nice and big but our favorite place in the house was the screened in porch. The location was great for walking in the morning and quick access to the fitness center. We missed the note that we needed to bring our own firewood but the place was great!

Beautiful, very comfortable, with tons of space. There was an actual desk and office chair to work from while looking out into the woods and listening to records. Truly a fantastic place to stay.

We had a wonderful experience staying at this property. It is far enough into the woods that you can enjoy a quiet weekend escape, but close enough to town that you can purchase anything you need.
There is plenty of space to sprawl out and multiple fireplaces available to use. The living room is comfortable for watching movies together and the kitchen well equipped for cooking meals. Master bathroom includes a large tub and the basement has a record player. Everything is labeled for easy access and the host is responsive to any questions you have.
All told, a wonderful experience.

Fabulous house just outside of Hedgesville in WV. Brilliantly positioned for all WV sights.
House is clean, well presented and in a very quiet area. Birdsong and peace prevail.
The bed was super comfy, the house was well equipped and we were not wanting for anything. We didn’t use the fires or the fire pit - 83F while we were there but I really enjoyed sitting out as the sun rose in the deck. Fabulous.
The host Corinne is attentive via messaging without being invasive and was very helpful. Thank you Corinne for a wonderful stay - if we ever find ourselves in WV we would not hesitate to stay here again.
