About this house rental
Welcome to one of the most desirable properties on Big Star Lake, a beautiful all-sports lake located in the heart of the Manistee National Forest. This unique rental comfortably sleeps 18 and features two distinct homes with 100 feet of private, sugar sand beach.
The Main House has 3 Bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus an expansive upper living area with 2 sets of twin/full bunks and 2 additional trundle twins. Large lakefront windows provide sensational views of the lake from every angle. The open main floor living area with beautiful reclaimed wood floors has a large fireplace anchored at one end, and a gourmet kitchen at the other, complete with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, walk-in pantry, and all the food prep and cooking/serving implements you could want.
The adjacent guest house has two more bedrooms (1 queen/2 twins), a full bathroom, living room with gas fireplace and brand new kitchen with stainless steel appliances and spectacular views of the lake. The guest house also features a 28' x 12' screened lakefront porch, the perfect spot for your morning coffee or evening cocktail.
Collectively, this 5 bedroom/4 bath property is the perfect setting for family & friends to come together and make amazing memories.
Summertime:
Soak up the sun on 100 ft. of private, sugar-sand beach. The gradual grade into the lake is ideal for families with small children. Secure your boat to our 75' dock with swim ladder, or enjoy one of our watercraft: 2 stand up paddle boards, 2 kayaks and a paddleboat. Relax in a hammock or our luxury resort beach chairs with umbrellas. The attached main house garage features an eclectic bar with ping-pong, darts, game table and ring the bull, and just outside, enjoy corn hole.
Gather around our large, beach fire pit, enjoy fishing, hiking, biking, ATV trails, world-class trout streams, nearby golfing and countless excursions. Watch bald eagles soar above and fish the lake, listen to the call of the loon, soak in all the sights and sounds of lake life. Fall:
In September, things quiet down here and it's a great time to enjoy fall colors, cooler temps and starry nights outdoors around the fire. Enjoy fishing, hiking, and miles of off-road trails. This is the perfect getaway spot with great amenities like our fan favorite heated garage/bar with games. Take a drive to Traverse City for wine tasting, or watch the sun set over the coast of Lake Michigan, both easy day trips.
Winter:
Bring on the snow! The snowmobile trails go on & on and ice fishing is popular. The quiet, calm surroundings are so beautiful. This is a perfect spot to celebrate the holidays with family & friends. Enjoy a peaceful hike around the lake, then cozy up inside with some hot cocoa.
Springtime:
Nature is awakening and the lake is wide open. You may even be lucky enough to witness a spectacular Northern Lights show. Every season is better at the lake!
In peak summer season (June, July, August) the Main House is rented along with the adjacent guest house for one week minimum stays. During the off-season, options include renting homes separately or together for 3 night stay minimum

A group of us went up on a side by side trip and couldn't be happier with the stay. Everything was better than expected with an awesome kitchen, plenty of beds, a fun garage space, and a bonus foot of snow while we were there. Laurie was a very kind host and was very responsive to questions. We will surely stay there again.

Lovely stay for a chilly fall weekend! Loved sharing meals in the dining space, doing puzzles by the fireplace, and playing games at night in the garage while the kids sleep soundly upstairs. Kids loved spending some time outside too! The cabin had everything we needed and more. Hope to come again next year!

This property is VERY well equipped. From the kitchen to the beach chairs/toys to the baskets in each bathroom filled with commonly forgotten items, you will have everything you need. There were 9 of us and we had plenty of room. The one thing I would note is there is only one bedroom on the main floor. The rest of the beds and bedrooms are up a flight of stairs. Both bedrooms in the guest house are upstairs as well. The lake and the beach are beautiful! The fire pit was also fun. We didn't utilize the game room too much but it would be great for a family. We had 5 cars and 3 kayak trailers and there was plenty of parking. The houses are just 10 minutes from the Pere Marquette River so we loved the location. You can't go wrong with this property!The communication with the host is top notch.

Wow! What a perfect place for a family vacation! Perfect beach on a beautiful lake. The houses are clean, beautifully decorated and have everything you could ever need. The property owner is available and accommodating. Highly recommend this rental to all, we will be back for sure!
