Villa Petite Olive

We are not for sure who Barbara is that is on the listing, but we certainly dealt with some great folks in renting this villa. The person meeting us in town and guiding us to the villa was Georgia. Do be aware that although the listing notes the check in time as 1:00, we could not check in until 3:00, not a real problem for us. The lady that owns the villa is Mania and she is wonderful. She kept us fed and in all kinds of great treats. A lovely lady. The villa is about 10 minutes, by car, outside of the great town with the beach and many restaurants. You do need a car to stay here as it is a drive to all activities. The villa has three great outside living spaces which we were able to use most of our trip. When is rained and turned cool for a couple of days, the inside dining was not that great but doable. The inside was very eclectic in decoration and a bit dark. This was not a problem as we spent almost all time outside. The bed is adequate but very firm. We would not classify the kitchen as a gourmet kitchen, but we made a couple of very nice, simple meals there. The bath and shower were great. It is worth staying for the views and the hospitality.

We thoroughly embraced the peace and quiet on offer at this house. Both inside and out it is charming and well equipped with furniture, utensils and an outdoor kitchen. Our host Mania, living next door, is generous with her cooking expertise and wonderful food. Georgia did a superb job of meeting and guiding us there after dark, and visited us again to say farewell the evening before we had to (sadly) leave! We enjoyed trips to Kato Zakros, walked the gorge, and viewed the Minoan ruins (and were the only people on the beach); to Vai/Bai and its palm trees a couple of occasions; and to the Toplos Monastery. The atmosphere in Sitia itself is so welcoming that we spent several days there swimming, strolling, chatting and discovering local craft workers. We bring home sweet memories and a bit of a tan....thank you Home Away!

Wir haben im April / Mai vier Wochen im Haus von Mania und Dimitris verbracht und können es sehr empfehlen. Sehr guter Standort für einen abwechslungsreichen Urlaub; ruhig und schön gelegenes Haus, geschmackvoll und komfortabel eingerichtet und auch für einen längeren Aufenthalt gut geeignet, alles sauber (Putzfrau kommt zweimal pro Woche) und gepflegt. Die unmittelbare Umgebung ist sehr schön gestaltet: Verschiedene Terrassen und Sitzplätze, Feigenbäume, Olivenbäume, Weinreben und Blumen. In der Aussenküche kann gekocht und gegrillt werden. Die Eigentümer sind äusserst gastfreundlich und herzlich; bei unserer Ankunft stand alles für ein erstes einfaches Abendessen und fürs Frühstück bereit, inklusive selbst gemachter Marmeladen und Kuchen. Mania und Dimitris wohnen ebenfalls auf dem Grundstück; sie waren bei Bedarf jederzeit ansprechbar und haben uns mit guten Tipps für Ausflüge und Restaurants in der näheren und weiteren Umgebung versorgt. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und würden dieses Haus jederzeit wieder mieten.
