About this apartment rental
We offer a spacious, modern, and exceptionally well-maintained vacation apartment with a balcony and stunning views of the valley and the surrounding landscape.
Ideal for families of all sizes. It comfortably accommodates 6 adults and 2 small children. Our modern vacation apartment, featuring high-end amenities, is located on the top floor of a residential building on the outskirts of Dodenau. Dodenau is a popular health resort on the edge of the Sauerland region and near the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park. Premium hiking trails and a wildlife preserve are within walking distance.
The apartment features 3 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms, an utility room, and a south-facing balcony.
Bedrooms:
The pink and yellow bedrooms are each equipped with a double bed, a closet, a dresser, nightstands, bedside lamps, two chairs, a side table, a full-length mirror, a radio, and an alarm clock. A changing table is available in the pink bedroom if needed. A baby crib and an additional children’s bed can be added upon request.
The green bedroom features a bunk bed and a single bed. It comfortably accommodates 2 adults and 1 child. The room is also furnished with a closet, a desk, and a desk chair.
Living Room:
The living room features a large sofa set with a coffee table, a dining table, a writing desk, a display cabinet, a TV stand, a floor lamp, a stereo system, and satellite TV. A high chair can be provided upon request.
The balcony is accessible from the living room.
The balcony (south-facing) features six balcony chairs and a table. From here, you have a fantastic panoramic view.
Kitchen:
The modern kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, glass-ceramic cooktop, refrigerator with freezer compartment, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, dishwasher, coffee maker, sandwich toaster, blender, and waffle iron. Additionally, there are plenty of cooking and baking utensils, dinnerware, and silverware for up to 8 people.
The kitchen features a table with four chairs.
Hallway:
The hallway features a coat rack area with guest slippers and another full-length mirror.
Utility Room:
The utility room is equipped with an ironing board, iron, clothes rack, laundry basket, clothespins, cleaning bucket, mop, vacuum cleaner, broom, and dustpan.
Bathroom I:
The bathroom is equipped with a large corner bathtub, shower, toilet, shelves, vanity cabinet, mirror cabinet, cosmetic mirror, shower stool, laundry bin, and hair dryer.
Bathroom II:
This bathroom is equipped with a toilet, shower, sink, vanity cabinet, mirror cabinet, cosmetic mirror, laundry bin, washing machine, and dryer.
For our youngest guests, a baby bathtub, toilet seat reducer, step stool, and potty are provided. A large supply of towels is available, as well as bathrobes.
The large ball pit, which is set up when children are visiting, is extremely popular.
We also have a variety of age-appropriate toys and a children’s play corner for entertainment.
Current reading material for adults is available through a book exchange program. Hiking maps are available for loan.
The vacation rental has large windows that can be darkened with exterior blinds.
From spring through fall, the Rothaar Mountains and the beautiful Eder Valley invite you to enjoy wonderful bike and motorcycle tours. Hikes on well-marked trails are possible year-round and have their own special charm in every season.
The heated outdoor pool is just a 4-minute walk away. A lovely children’s playground is within sight of the balcony.
During the winter months, you can visit various nearby ski resorts from Dodenau, such as Sackpfeife, Winterberg, and the surrounding area. Various cross-country skiing trails are available in the immediate vicinity of the village when weather conditions permit.
Dodenau is a beautifully situated village with good general and tourist infrastructure. In addition to various restaurants, the village has a bakery, a garden center, a doctor’s office, and a Sparkasse ATM. Additional shopping options are available in the neighboring village.

This property is easily the best we've stayed in. It was beautiful! It was very spacious, very well looked after, and modern. There is a spectacular view from the window, and we could relax on the large balcony with a beer after a day's sightseeing. Dodenau is a lovely village with 3 pubs/restaurants and a small supermarket within walking distance. Everyone was really friendly. The property has so much space! We all loved it!!!

Beautiful and spacious apartment which was very well equipped throughout. Beautiful panoramic views over the surrounding countryside from the living room balcony. Simply couldn't have asked for better!!

After having sped through Germany on a number of occasions on our way to Austria, this year we decided to take some time and look around. We initially chose this area due to its relatively easy drive to Rotterdam for our ferry and were a little apprehensive of our total lack of knowledge of the countryside. However we were hugely impressed by everything this apartment and the surrounding area has to offer.
Firstly, the apartment can comfortably cater for 7 people, easily enough for our party of 5. It is very well furnished, with some lovely 'touches' to give a very welcoming feeling. It is comfortable and clean, with plenty of space for our 3 children. From the large bathroom to the well-appointed kitchen, there is nothing that you would want for at this apartment. Kathrin and her family have done a wonderful job. The view from the balcony over the river, fields and rolling wooded hills is fabulous, and a perfect place to wind down after a busy day exploring the area.
And what an area it is!!.The village of Dodenau is rural and quiet, with a couple of bakeries, a few pubs/hotels, a small supermarket and a couple of other shops to serve the local needs. Battenberg is close for slightly more options, with Frankenberg and Marberg getting bigger still. All these places are worth a visit as the towns (or cities in Marberg's case) are simply stunning. I cannot overemphasise how breath taking these places are, and I would expect all the other towns in the region to be similar. On our drives to the Edersee, we passed through fantastic village after fantastic village.
If your idea of a holiday is to immerse yourself in the local culture and way of life, this area is an absolute hidden gem. There is something for all those that would enjoy a holiday in rural Germany, if you just take the time to look around.
A fantastic area and a fantastic village to base yourself. All this topped with the wonderful German hospitality. A great week, giving us all great memories. Danke.
