Disappointing experience

The location, the games room, some quirky touches

The key bolts were impossible to open. Owner failed to respond to repeated calls, texts from us or the booking agent. Insufficient chairs for the party despite a promise of availability. Heating failed for first 24 hours in cold weather. Again no response ( it finally kicked in). Hot tub too cool for the weather. Much chipped crockery. Not 5*

The location was very close to the town. Pet friendly Very quirky house The owners decorated the house with Christmas decorations Good for a large group of people The owner responded quickly after contact

Whilst the owner responded quickly after it was noticed that basic things forgotten/ not provided / problematic eg no hand towels in bathroom bath mats forgotten, blocked shower drain and washbasin due to clogged hair meaning water didn’t drain away and the maintenance man had to come out meaning we had to hang around to let him in. Cutlery draw and some crockery dirty. These are basic hygiene requirements especially when we paid a lot of money for a short stay. Mattresses in most bedrooms are pretty uncomfortable and were lumpy. For a house that can accommodate more than 15 people, the number of dining room chairs falls way short meaning as a family home of more than 15 we couldn’t sit together.

A truly great time at a special place.

The uniqueness of the house. Old, historic but modern fittings. My family of all ages loved it and we really appreciated the first rate cleanliness of the place. Damian is a great host and responded quickly to any queries I had. Thank you.

Parking is not ideal but that is beyond anything Damien can do about it. The Swan Meadow car park worked well.

A beautiful old building with lots of quirky features. Ideal as a great location for a family party weekend. Enjoyed the hot tub. Very clean.

We were a party of 16 adults and some of the rooms were more suitable for children, especially the single bed in the play room. There were a few maintenance issues, ie shower head in downstairs bathroom needs descaling. Bathroom also needs a mirror. Also a few nails sticking of floorboards, in the dining room and the front bedroom without the bath. The BBQ gas bottles also ran out. None of this stopped us from having a good time, just things to get checked!

OK stay but certainly not luxury

Hot tub Barbecue

Parking only 1 garage space 300 metres away with no electric charging. 2 of the bedrooms walk through from another so only 7 private. 1 guest slept in living room and another in games room. Only 9 dining chairs for 16 registered guests. Had to get in garden chairs in the rain.2 sets of stairs very difficult to negotiate. One guest fell. Messages either not acknowledged or seem to be AI replies. Was thanked for my review which hadn't been written let alone submitted! General wear and tear. Chipped crockery, broken lampshades. Only 2 tea towels. Messaged sent after retiring to say all beds needed stripping in morning before departure. Don't have to do that or find and dry chairs in a budget hotel .

Complaints Extremely noisy road Car park more expensive than told Car park further than 3 minutes unlike the video and advertisement states Outside in the garden at 7pm just talking amongst each-other in the sunshine and receiving complaints about noise Neighbours being a cemetery behind and a closed down hotel next door and then shops Not enough plates for the amount of people that can stay Not enough chairs for dinner for the amount of people that can stay (although we asked prior) Toilet roll didn’t last the night nail hanging out of the floor in the wooden floor on the top floor Staples hanging out the floor on the first floor Light chandelier hanging half of the ceiling games room stank of damp and the floor hasn’t been cleaned as there was sweets on the floor A broken plate stashed in between all of the other plates Cigarette buts in water left in the garden next to the bbq Way too much chlorine in the jacuzzi it irritated our skin The tables in the dining area were not secured in place and very dangerous House was absolutely baking with a couple of fans Shower leaking downstairs that flooded the bathroom

Some guests found the beds quite hard but it did not spoil our stay at all.

Quirky and good place for a multigenerational break.

Key location very explicit, excellent contact with host. Large property with some excellent features. Hot tub wonderful. Plenty of room for five energetic kids to enjoy and adults to relax. Two dishwashers excellent provision. General location many options to wander and visit. Videos on arrival etc really good.

Two very odd staircases meant great care needed to reach upper floors and basement. Low beams gave two of our taller members headaches. Garden room shower ineffective. Obvious leak from one internal bathroom to kitchen. Small maintenance jobs like light bulbs needed attention. . Recycling instructions difficult to follow

The house is beautiful and lots of details in every room. Nice big rooms that suited all our family members needs . Kitchen is well equipped. We where able to cook and roast dinner for 18 very well .

Lovely property with plenty of space for everyone and in very close proximity to the town. The kids loved the Harry Potter themed floor and the quizzes.

Majority found the pillows to be too hard. We had to buy an extra large saucepan to cater for the large party.
