Villa Frida - Private Beachfront Villa

This home's location is great and the house itself is pretty spacious and accommodating for large groups. The nature hike to the beach is a fantastic experience for all, especially kids. There are plenty of spiders, lizards, insects and critters around due to the tropical location, so be ready for that. You'll enjoy hearing the howler monkeys during your morning coffee. The weather is hot and humid; however, the house will be very comfortable with the a/c units located throughout. The home itself, tough being only a couple years old (2024) and very grand and beautiful, is already showing signs of beach front and general wear. Some of the large glass windows are foggy, doors don't line up or close properly. Some greenery right up against the house and master bedroom deck is a bit overgrown. We also noticed spider webs on the light fixtures, broken shelves inside the refrigerator and weird red stains on the master bedroom concrete floors. The furniture in the living room is very nice and conformable, however, the shelving/stands in the bathrooms are very flimsy and cheaply made. Unfortunately, we did not get to enjoy the swimming pool due to it being green (6 adults 5 kids). Similar to another review we saw before booking, we were told it was the natural state of the pool due to its location, however, having experience in the pool cleaning business, I know it was due to poor maintenance. The host was helpful, communicative and did have maintenance come take a look. They quickly treated it, and the pool was finally bright blue and algae free on the last day of our 3-day stay. This was a mayor disappointment for us because the beach was also too rough and the only place we could swim at was Puerto Viejo's beach. I would highly advice you reach out to them and make sure proper maintenance is being done 2-3 days before your stay. This is a must if you're staying here. Do not accept a green swimming pool. Your party/kids will thank you.

It needs a little maintenance, there’s was a leak in the roof and the kitchen and the grill pilot weren’t working, but those are really minor details and easy fix to be honest! Other than that, outstanding!
