Hotel de Rossi

The property has a great location, close to the Old Town, with great places to eat and have coffee nearby. The front desk is open 24/7, which is nice, as you don't have to worry about losing your key. Although sometimes you have to ring the number on the door to enter or leave the hotel, the staff usually comes quickly. The room was clean, and the toiletries (hand soap and two shower gels/shampoos) were restocked daily, but I would still recommend bringing some of your own if you need more. The hotel staff is nice and friendly. The air conditioning worked well. Also note that you have to pay the city tax in cash.

My main complaint is that there were ants on the floor in my room. I didn't eat there, but there was a crumb left in the corner behind the desk (although the room was generally clean), so the ants came from inside the wall. When I pointed this out to the hotel staff for the first time and showed them the ants while leaving in the morning, there were even more ants when I came back in the evening. They were cleaned up after I asked the second time, though. The building is old, which is understandable, and you could hear other guests very clearly. I found the price a bit high for the value. I would recommend it for staying a few nights.

I have chosen this hotel because it has reception 24/24. The location is very good, being 10 min away from the train station and 15 min away from Bari Vecchia. The staff was very kind and friendly. On the next street on the corners there were cafés that serve great cappuccino. We enjoyed the one from Caffetteria dell' Angolo. There is the possibility to leave the luggage near the reception on the date of departure free of charge. The room was spacious, it had two large wardrobes, a table with a chair and the bed was comfortable but it could have been a bit bigger. We enjoyed our mornings sitting on the balcony that overlooked the street. It was a bit noisy but it didn't bother us, it made us not forget that we were in the south of Italy. The sheet of bed and the towels were bright white and the towels were changed everyday. Even though the furniture was old and the walls weren't repainted as there were marks in some places, this was not a problem for us because the hotel met all our desired requirements. Also, everyday we were provided with toiletries. We had hot running water. (During my accommodation research this turned out to be a serious issue in Bari in some rented apartments). I am pleased that i got over the numerous negative reviews. I spent 6 nights here and i received what i was looking for. This hotel is not for those who are looking for nice furniture, freshly renovated rooms, but for people who desire the same aspects that i mentioned before. Certainly, in Bari you don't come to appreciate the furniture in the room, at the hotel you go at night to sleep, this is my opinion.

The shower cabin was quite small, but it is not a big issue.

Good location for train and buses. Comfy bed, hot shower, aircon. Able to store luggage after checkout for late buses/flights
