I like the code to your phone aspect of the check in although we did have issues with it. The apartment was enormous. We had only booked it within 24 hours so we got a very good deal just for the two of us. At the price we paid - which was exceptionally cheap compared to their usual nightly rate, presumably because it was so last minute - it was exceptional value for money. The air conditioning was SO needed and we were very grateful. If you are a large group this apartment would be ideal with so many bedrooms and bathrooms. Our stay was during a heatwave and when we went out in the evening the temperature was 41 degrees centigrade at 7:00 p.m. It was great for buses nearby. With it being so hot we couldn't face walking any distance so that was useful.

Initially we couldn't find the right front door, but some guys sitting on a bench opposite the door told us which building and a barber from next door came out to help us. It was slightly worrying as you feel vulnerable as a tourist but without them we would have struggled! It took a few tries to make the codes work. A few basics for breakfast would have been nice. We were going to go out to pick up a few items for breakfast but Bilbao doesn't get up early and the nearest convenience stores or supermarkets didn't open until 9.00 a.m. There is a cafe opposite so that was an option but we didn't try it. We had to go pick up a hire car so we needed an early and quick start to fetch the car and get back before check out.
