About this apartment rental
Set in the world famous Bernese Oberland, Grindelwald is the base for some of Europe's best walking trails and has become something of a hiking Mecca over the years. During the winter months with over 260 kms of slopes in the Jungfrau region you are spoilt for choice.
The chalet is perfectly located in a very quiet private road just a 5-7 minutes walk from the railway station (Grindelwald Dorf) and the village center and the gondolas.
The apartment Shreckhorn with 86 m2 living area for (4-5 people) and 3.5 rooms (2 bedrooms) is located on the first floor. It's spacious and has a large south facing balcony
with uninterrupted views of the Eiger North Face and the surrounding mountain world.
With modern furniture, fully equipped kitchen, internet (WiFi), SAT TV and a covered parking space in front of the chalet.
Included in the rate: cleaning at the end of your stay, linen, towels, kitchen towels, Internet, carport and side costs (heating, power, water). The only additional costs are the local tourist taxes.

Clean property, great views, host communicated through WhatsApp in a timely manner. Great location.
Things to note:
-There is a slight incline/decline walking to and from the property. Didn’t bother us but I know some may have issues with it if you have someone with mobility issues.
-there is no AC which is typical for this village. While it usually isn’t a problem because of cooler mountain temps, we were there in a heatwave making it very uncomfortable. There are also no fans in the apartment. Fans would have made a huge difference.
-this is a VRBO property so check the fees before you commit. This one does nickel and dime you to death compared to others we booked for this trip.
-Washer and dryers available in the basement, 2 francs per hour. The dryers suck but our clothes finished drying nicely on the balcony.
-the flies were terrible and the host didn’t want us killing the flies with swatters. It was either close up the apartment in the heat, or deal with the flies.
-bed was comfy, pillows were terrible. Linens also had a lot to be desired. Bed sheet was fine but the pillow and duvet covered had a texture to it. I don’t want texture under my face. Just a normal simple pillow and smooth case would be great.
Overall the apartment was beautiful, great view, and great location. We were uncomfortable due to the heat. While this isn’t the host’s fault, fans would have made a huge difference. The linens/pillows also need to be updated. Loved having a washer/dryer.

This place has an amazing view from the deck. Spacious room, super clean and it has everything equipped in the kitchen. Great location, 7 mins walk from the place to grindelwald station. Can also take the 123 bus to terminal or first cable car. Will come back the next time visiting Grindelwald. Small tip: bring your shampoo and body wash as it is not provided. Other than that you it has everything you need for a pleasant stay.
