The accommodation was a 10 minute walk from the bus station and easy to find. The host was proactive with communication and friendly. They provided some free food options for breakfast and dinner which was a nice touch. Our room looked out to all greenery which was lovely.

The friendly staff and simplicity of the accomodation. Great stories from what appears to be a personalised guide of Shirakawa including what life is all about for one staff member.

The personal detail to attention to tee caw of every need of guests was never seen or heard before!!

Size of the room, easiness to check in.
1. AC unit in ‘C’ room doesn’t cool the room sufficiently. We can say that after being in Japan for 10 days and staying in several hotels. 2. Location of the share bathroom requires passing through the kitchen to reach it making this uncomfortable when people are sitting in the kitchen. 3. The guesthouse is in opposite direction to the village . On hot and humid day pulling suitcases on busy road for 15 minutes is not pleasant. In general it is not worth to stay overnight in Shirawago since you need max 4 hours to cover all village and return back to Takayama or Kanawaza. There is luggage storage at the bus station.
