19 Accommodation

If you arrive expecting luxury, you may be disappointed — but if you’re looking for clean, warm, practical accommodation at a very reasonable price, this place does exactly what it promises. My room was simple but very comfortable: spotless, warm, with a good shower and plenty of hot water. There’s also a decent-sized fridge, which is really useful for keeping a few essentials. The location works well for skiing too — it’s right on the main bus route and just one stop up to the main resort area, which makes getting around very easy. Yes, there’s a bar attached so it may be a little lively during peak season, and the towels are on the small side (which honestly seems fairly typical in Japan), but you can request extras if needed. What really makes the place stand out is the kindness of the owners. They were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout my stay and even arranged for my luggage to be sent on after I left, which I greatly appreciated. And a final note: the burgers in the bar are excellent — definitely worth trying after a day on the slopes. Overall, a very solid and welcoming base for skiing in Appi.

Bed was a little on the hard side for my taste. But that is more a matter of personal preference.

Location in relation to Appi kogen ski field. Near shuttle bus that runs 1/2hrly(7min to ski resort). Bar/burger bar in house. Good tap beers. Easy to get to via Shinkansen to Morioka (2hrs) then bus (1hr). Be prepared Appi is a quiet place. 19brew good bar and ollies nearby. I travelled alone. Staff were friendly and were engaging even when off site. Btw. Lawson a handy short shuttle ride. If you’re quick you be on a return shuttle in 7min but the next in 1/2hr.

Couldn’t get the heater to work. Remote was missing. In fairness I didn’t need it and didn’t pursue it with staff. No laundry facilities however one across the road and House Appi

Close to resort. Clean facilities.

Gear room was hard to use for snow sport equipment. Check in process could do with more info.

The owner is a friendly and nice gentleman! Thank you! The bar adjacent to the hotel, check-in and check-out without waiting and procedures. Very relieving for people who don't like formalities. Nice trees right next to the window.

They might have provided simple breakfast. No hairdryer in the room. Also, it might have been possible to clean the bathroom better and replace the bath mat after previous guests. No breakfast available. Disappointing, since there are no normal options in the vicinity.
