Not a place we would come back to!!

Was handy to the location we needed to be at an appointment for.

Dirty! We booked a quadruple room, ended up in a twin room with two fold out beds. One wall was thin that once the lights were out you could see the lights in the foyer shining through the walls lighting up the room. Mattresses were stacked against this wall outside our room in the foyer, we can only assume as spares and to maybe help darken our room, but this didnt really work. There were stains on the bedding, holes in the bedding, could feel the springs in the mattresses. There was someones fake fingernail on the floor (not ours!) Hair balls on the floor, random stains on doors. Obviously not cleaned. Towels didnt smell clean so we didnt use them. Didnt use the bathrooms actually as these didnt look like they had been cleaned either. There were no rubbish bins in the rooms or the bathrooms. Our room had a padlock on the door. In-room fridge was mouldy. Our key fob didnt work and we ended up locked in the stairwell, the owner came to save us after we yelled & banged & kicked on the smoke door for about 10 minutes. He changed our key fob saying after 30 years they are having issues with the fobs. All in all not a great experience. We won't be back!

Not quite bad, because of the location. That’s the only thing I liked. Also the staff his friendly.

The location is fantastic.

The toilet and bathroom is dirty and the blanket, pillow case, bedsheet and the comforter is not quite wash cos there’s a smell. The nearby rooms they’re very noisy I awake up few time in my sleep. The property smells the food people cooking.

Just the location, but everything else is terrible.

The room that was given me was a makeshift room — an office room converted into a bedroom. It’s within a two-bedroom space, but the property manager only gave a key for the main door and not for my bedroom. I requested for the key of my bedroom because I felt insecure but the property manager told me that the key was lost. At that time, the other room was also occupied, and the person occupying that room could just enter my room anytime. The bathroom was dirty! The main room leading to my bedroom was disorderly. Kitchen was messy. Also, when I got to the hotel, the property manager told me that since there was a problem between the two ladies who are staying in the same room, he gave the room that I booked to one of the ladies, and asked me if i could stay in a different property, and he offered to drive me to that property. He was insistent with his request but I told him to give me the room that I booked. Since I was worried about my security and concerned about the cleanliness, I transferred to another hotel the night of my check in date. I hope appropriate Auckland authorities or regulatory bodies inspect these kinds of establishments. Although there were mixed reviews about the hotel, it seemed that only the bad ones are true having seen it myself. Admittedly, I only got to read the reviews after because it was an emergency booking, as such I didn’t have the time to read the reviews. And this happens when one is in a hurry. I hope Booking.com delist these kinds of hotels from their platform.

I don’t recommend this hostel, it’s terrible!

The property is so dirty, they direct us to the room that is totally different from the one I booked. The room is dark, dusty and floor is dirty even the sofa leather is peeling off terribly. Common areas are dirty as well such as kitchen, fridge, bathroom. We waited for 20 mins before receptionist came out and he told us to wait again because he will prepare our room. Why we have to wait when they know already that we are coming, we made the booking 2 months before. The manager is not good in handling complaints he reasons out and up to now our refund was not sent back because we did not stay we left and the manager told us they will refund some of our payment but up to now still waiting. 1st picture was the room I booked. Second picture was the room they gave us and they us vacuum to clean the floor when I said it’s dirty.

Friendly staff

Facilities were so dirty that I didn't even want to shower there. Bathrooms were disgusting. You can hear everything in the rooms next to you so it was really difficult to sleep.

Unclean , Bed and sheets wet , shower head broken , no control over other guests who were loud and cooking dinner at 11pm at night making everywhere smell of curry , lifts were noisy all night as the balance weights went up and down , no spare key on site and the person greeting guests arriving late was drunk.

Very average hostel. Not a backpackers hostel.

Location is pretty central, but that is the only thing going for it.

No communication on how to get into building. Saw front desk at start, and never again. Not your typical hostel, just a place to sleep and that is it. No real common spaces. Kitchen had a kids table and 2 chairs for eating on. Beds pretty average, no lockers, no real security for personal belongings. No curtains in rooms either. Only 2 bathrooms in the whole hostel, were occupied alot of the time. Shower pretty discusting. Not really clean, and bottles of shampoo soap everywhere.

Quiet, friendly people, nice location, good security. I really recommend this hostel.

All time very quiet. Especially at night, I could sleep very well. Very comfortable at my room and kitchen. I made many friends here. People are from around the world. Location and security is super nice.

Sometimes bathroom and kitchen is not very clean because some people don’t clean up after themselves. But staff clean up regularly for us.

The beds were good, and the rooms were nice. The bathrooms were clean, surprisingly so. I enjoyed using them. There's a disability bathroom and an elevator so people on wheelchairs can stay here. Without issue. The location is good being in downtown Auckland city. Lots of shops and facilities nearby.

The kitchen was rather sparse and small, having one small table and two fridges. There was a stove, a microwave, and an oven, but no rice cooker or air fryer or steam cooker. There was no lounge. I can't think of much else.

Edward is an excellent manager, caring and attentive to guests. The hostel is in a very safe place, close to everything and transportation.

I do wish that the desk was managed 11- 7 or later.

The bed seemed clean but the other people in the room were loud and inconsiderate, the bathroom was dirty with hair on corners and a broken shower head. I wasn't willing to stick around. Booked something else and got out within an hour of checking in.

I didn't like the fact the rooms were never cleaned also the bathroom Floors were filthy also drying facilities in bathroom and toilet were never cleaned old and dirty towels. Fridge never cleaned food in there which had been there for months so bad and disgusting. No had soap in toilet or very little sometimes. Beds creaked and blinds broken. Clutter in the halls and bedroom causing a fire risk or an accident.

Great location, easy walk to Viaduct Harbour.

Great location. I travelled by car, no onsite carpark but parking garage around the corner, 18 dollars for about 24 hours. Very friendly host.

The bed was not comfortable, nicely put. it was just a foam mattress not a proper mattress, I told the host . If you are on the heavier side, like me , ask for a thicker mattress or extra foam mattress. Bathroom needs cleaning more often.

junk everywhere, noone at the desk to check us in or give us a tour of the place / facilities, bad wifi, uncomfortable mattress & pillows, faulty windows held closed with celotape, window blinds which dont keep the sun out so get woken up as soon as the sun rises. hard to access property from airport due to road closures, no signage to indicate hostel on arrival board in lobby and the actual name of the hostel is called garden hostel which is very confusing when asking strangers for help. Not easily accessible if travelling as a couple as only 1 key as front doors & elevator locked after 5.30 so difficult to checkin if youre arriving late from airport and dont have sim, not sure how you could ever get in if you dont have a sim tbh. Room lights are horrible white lights that hurt your eyes. Front door to hostel is always open. Very expensive to stay here. Messy kitchen, fridges full of bags, expensive laundry, needs someone to sort the mess out and redo the rooms
