HIGH SAINT COTTAGE - Stunning 3 Bed Accommodation located in Ripon, North Yorkshire

This spacious and bright home lived up to its advertising! Beautifully appointed and welcoming in its decor and furniture. Host Ben was available for questions online and very helpful as needed. We were worried about needing to check in early, and there were no promises, but all was ready when we arrived. Location was steps to Ripon Cathedral and the town centre and river, yet cosily tucked away at the end of a quiet street facing the cathedral cemetery, with doves cooing lullabies. Amenities in the kitchen, including laundry machines, worked perfectly, and the kitchen was well-stocked with all manner of dishes, baking ware, utensils, tea towels galore...! We wanted for nothing and wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you Ben, you are a great host, and High Saints is tops!

If windows were left open, midges flew in. The shower mat was a little slippery.

This is a lovely house in a very pretty street. It was a short walk from the centre of Ripon, so an absolutely perfect location.

In the ideal world, a king-sized bed would have been appreciated on the top floor, although we understand this might not be possible given the stairs. The house was very clean (obviously a good thing), although it seems the carpets had only just been cleaned and remained wet for a couple of days, so we had wet feet/socks for that time.

Cottage was lovely. Homely, comfortable and with a well fitted kitchen.

Struggled to get hot water first day, with no instructions on how to use Nest - thank goodness for Google lens. Parking not as great as expected.

The cottage has potential and it’s in a good location for exploring Ripon. The kitchen has all the utensils you might need.

The back door key snapped and we had to get a replacement cut ourselves (there was already a snapped key there so clearly not the first time). Not quite what you’d expect on a short break or when you’ve specifically booked somewhere dog friendly with access to a garden. The kitchen windows were painted shut despite being told they open so it was impossible to get air in on a warm day with the door not opening. The front and back gardens were overgrown and untidy with rubbish strewn in the front, the windows were very dirty, and areas including loose blinds, cracked glass and a wobbly bannister need maintenance. Cleaning was ok but seems to be only at ground or eye level and the cottage still had cobwebs throughout. Makes the additional cleaning charge for our dog sting even more. The ground floor is much smaller than the upstairs so bear this in mind if you are travelling as a group.
