Stunning views and an encredibly friendly and helpful staff

We stayed at Maha Hill Resort on Bali for three days, and it was truly memorable. The view from the restaurant was absolutely stunning, and the resort’s remote location created an incredibly natural and peaceful environment. Our cabin was well equipped and looked great; we were happy with all the facilities and found little to fault. One thing to note is that there are quite a lot of stairs, so if you have mobility issues, keep that in mind. The staff was incredibly friendly and extremely helpful, adding a warm and welcoming touch. On top of that, we absolutely loved the wonderful massages and enjoyed the extra activities which made the entire experience even more special!

Experience the real Bali where tradition meets warmth

Our fourth hotel stay in Bali during our 3 weeks vacation. First i was very pleased to be welcomed by Chatur the traditiinal balinese style with Swastiastu. From check in to check out every staff was exceptional. Special thanks to Andre who seems very passionate about his job, ensured that our meals were tailored to our preferences, complete with extra tempe and favourite sambal sauce. Gus Deva always ready to help Febry and Dona always serve with great care and passion Ardi who taught the art of weaving baskets Indra, Clara, Chaya, Oky Puthu the driver super friendly and nice guide And without forgetting Chandra who went above and beyond to deliver exceptional service and made my wife experience balinese traditional prayer and offerings and dance. All cleaning staff and many more, too many names to remember... Thats my most positive and longest review on booking.com Highly recommended for those seeking nature, mountains and real rice fields views from balcony.

Maha Hills - my idea of heaven

We loved staying at Maha Hills Resort so much that we extended our stay by a couple nights as we didn't want to leave. This is a special place up in the hills of Lovina with my favourite views of anywhere I've been in Bali - rice terraces, jungles, steep winding roads and off in the distance Lovina Beach and the ocean. Our room was gorgeous and well-appointed with everything we needed. We loved the yoga shala and spent each morning doing our own sunrise yoga or joining in the guided practice offered by the resort. The in-house spa was excellent, and we enjoyed many treatments during our time there. We loved the steep scenic walk to and from the resort (not a requirement, just a choice), there is minimal vehicle traffic in this area just the loveliest friendliest people we've met in Indonesia greeting you on your walk. And we even grew to love the many stairs we had to take to reach the restaurant from our room - great exercise. The staff were so friendly and helpful and took the time to talk to us and make us feel right at home. Our breakfasts were included in the room price and they were delicious and a great way to start the day. The restaurant was excellent with great healthy food options. The resort is 20-30 mins from Lovina town centre, but only 4-5 mins from some great adventure spots! It's the perfect peaceful base to go on adventures from. We especially enjoyed canyoning in the Sambangan Waterfalls with Rindu Adventures, which we booked through Maha Hills. Beautiful Aling-Aling Waterfall is "walking" distance from the resort too, but if you want to conserve your energy, they will drive you there and pick you up after. If you go to Lovina for sunrise with the dolphins, which we highly recommend! The tour group will also pick you up from the hotel and bring you back after. There are so many wonderful things to mention about this place that I could type all day.

The coffee machine wasn't working while we were there and there are no cafes in the area. But that was a minor non-issue when weighed up against our magical stay at Maha Hills

We had a wonderful stay at Maha Hills and would happily return.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and thoughtful. They went out of their way to prepare a beautiful birthday display for my girlfriend, which made the stay feel personal and special. The facilities are new, well designed, and very well maintained. Our villa was spacious and elegant, and having a private pool surrounded by nature was a real highlight. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful with everything we needed. They also arranged a guide for our waterfall trip, and he exceeded all expectations. Knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely passionate, it ended up being one of the best experiences of our trip. It is worth noting that Maha Hills is remote and set in the jungle, so this is a place for travelers who want peace, nature, and a sense of escape. That is exactly what we were looking for, and we loved it. Overall, an excellent stay with outstanding hospitality. We would absolutely come back.

Fantastic staff! Every single person. Genuinely interested in our impression of everything. I had the feeling that they were honest in their intent to improve in any area. Breakfast is fantastic. Large variety. I booked with breakfast included so I don't know the price, but I think it's 150,000 rupiah, and it's worth it. It's very good. Restaurant food also very good. Which is fortunate because there's nothing nearby. Without your own transportation you are a little bit stuck here, so good food is important. I booked the villa with the private pool. That was very nice. But the pool next to the restaurant is better for the view. Both a positive and negative point: the stairs. Get ready for a lot of stairs! Good exercise. But if you are old, fat, unwell, or all of the above, it could be a problem.

The stairs. Lol And, be advised, if you book transportation through the hotel, it is exorbitantly expensive. Along the lines of triple what you should pay if you could use the Grab app. But only bikes are available on the app at this location. So I wish I would have thought ahead and arranged something while I was in town to save a considerable sum.

We loved the tranquility and simplicity. I loved the area up and around the venue. The waterfalls were incredible. The yoga shala was beautiful to practice in and the view from everywhere on the property was stunning.

Unfortunately there is smoking and vaping allowed in the restaurant which is the common area to be. To swim and to eat. Having to breath vape and cigarettes would unfortunately make me think twice about returning.

Amazing views and the kindest staff

The property has amazing views, especially from the restaurant and some rooms (not all!). The staff was extremely kind and super helpful.

Our villa unfortunately had a view to the back of another villa and we were disturbed by the outside air condition of this villa (which was very loud even with our windows closed). However, for the second night we were moved to a different villa with a lovely view. To be noted (especially for light sleepers) that some villas are close to a stream and since they are not very much insulated, it can be quite loud. The food was good, but we would have appreciated more authentic Indonesian options. Overall, the hotel is more of a 4-star rather than a 5-star.

Amazing hidden hotel with exceptionally friendly staff

Amazing hotel in the mountains. We booked the villa which was actually almost the same price as the standard rooms - it was great! The rooms are lovely with a view over the rice terraces. The team already welcomed us at the parking lot and very warmly welcomed us with flowers and cold drinks. The whole staff was exceptionally friendy. Great hidden hotel!

The only small downside was the food at the restaurant which was okay but not as good as in other hotels we visited.

Rooms need a reform, damp smell, old bathroom floor, it mentions it’s 5 star, while it’s 4, prices are very high for Bali and therefore a disbalance in price/quality, staff is friendly but sometimes it’s a bit too much and feels unnatural, it no longer has 2 restaurants just one.

Secluded jungle paradise!

Maha Hills is an incredible resort. Situated in the stunning hills of North Bali, you are truly in a tropical paradise. The best thing about this beautiful resort is the staff. Without a doubt, they provided the finest service we have received on a holiday. Mr. Teher and his team were absolutely incredible and will take very good care of you on your stay. The staff make guests feel truly welcome and comfortable and are on hand to facilitate any bookings, outings, or anything else you may need. They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The villas provide a luxury escape with a Balinese twist, and the grounds and interiors are maintained to a high standard. Being in the hills was beautiful and lush, with incredible jungle plants and striking tropical flowers. The resort fits perfectly into this stunning landscape, and we loved the views from the rooms, the amazing pool, and the restaurant. As with everything at Maha Hills, the food was exceptional, and the service was excellent. The spa, Soendaram Divine and Retreat was the ultimate in luxury, and we highly recommend trying the treatments on offer there. The resort also offers cultural activities, with extremely knowledgeable staff from the local area sharing their time and skills. Again, we would highly recommend partaking in these offerings. Thank you to all staff at Maha Hills, we really can't wait to come back and visit this beautiful part of Bali again and stay at your fabulous resort.

Amazing view but bungalows need an upgrade

The view from the pool is beautiful. Staff was very kind. The restaurant offered good food, both the breakfast as well as the offers for snacks/dinner were pretty good.

The bungalow was just too warm, the a/c didn’t properly cool the room so we had trouble sleeping. The bungalows feel slightly older and the air was moist. The musquito net looked dirty. We didn’t get the layout of the pool. There were only 4 sunbeds? At other places you can lay around the pool and enjoy the sun but here we often had to sit around the pool.

A beautiful stay but look out for the black mould!

There were soo many things to LOVE about my stay at Maha Hills Resort. -I loved my room. It was absolutely gorgeous and the welcome with the egg on the bed was so lovely! -The bathroom was to die for. That tub! Omg!! -Loved having Alexa play music. Felt like a treat to have that option. -Really appreciated being able to give my clothes for laundering. -The staff at the reception was incredibly helpful and kind. The massages were heavenly (I had 3) -I had hurt my leg a day before I arrived and they made sure to have either a scooter or a car drive me up to the restaurant. (which was at the top of a 150 step staircase)

-The first day that I arrived they had put an essential oil burner on in the room and the room was smelling quite strongly of jasmin which was lovely. But eventually the oil burner finished and after that I could smell mould. By day 3 of my stay, that smell had grown to be very pronounced. It wasn't till day 4 where I found where it was coming from. The bottom of the blind/curtain was completely covered with black mould. :( For a wellness center, I had just been sleeping in a room which was incredibly bad for my health. Very disheartening. -Some of the staff at the restaurant were rude and unhelpful to say the least. For example, I am diabetic so need to have sweetener with my tea and not sugar. I asked for it at breakfast (I saw it in the room so knew that they had it) and was told that they didn't have it. I explained that they I had seen it in my room and if they could just check in the back. They basically kept sending different servers over saying that they couldn't do anything about it-and they were aggressive about it. I refused to accept that (this is a 4 star resort for goodness sakes) and a minute later, voila, there was the sweetener. Over the course of my 5 day stay, there were quite a few instances where I experienced a sense of rudeness and lack of professionalism and I disliked having to go there (this was the only restaurant for miles so it's not as if I had much of a choice). Let me be clear, some of the staff at the restaurant were lovely but some of them emitted a bored contempt for their guests. Very disappointing.

Perfect and relaxing.

We stayed at this resort for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The resort is very well kept and the staff could not be more friendly, welcoming or helpful (special mention to Catur on reception and her excellent grasp of English) The resort is situated part way up the side of a hill, above the Aling-Aling waterfalls. As such the views from the main pool, restaurant and yoga shala are really beautiful. Our room was spacious with a large double bed and plenty of wardrobe space. The bathroom was of the half inside / half outside style with a huge bath overlooking the valley. We were also able to enjoy our own private pool and patio area situated underneath our room. The resort has spa facilities offering a good range of treatments. I tried the 90 minute deep tissue massage which was blissful. The on-site restaurant also deserves to be mentioned as the food was delicious and very reasonably priced and the staff (especially Erika and Andre) were so friendly and attentive.

There wasn’t anything about this resort that we did not like, but it should be mentioned that as the property is built on the side of a hill, there are a lot of stairs to climb to get from some of the rooms to the restaurant / main pool or to the reception area. A car / scooter is also needed to get to Lovina.
