Royal Hotel Sydney

Right near the boardwalk and it’s a funky hotel.

I had fully researched this hotel / its location and was excited to stay at a hotel in operation since 1785 for its historical context and was not disappointed! The hotel is run more like a B&B with requests from the on-site owner to preserve its historical integrity that are not unexpected (like no outdoor shoes on the original hardwood floors). The owner, Carmen, and her cute little dog may be a bit eccentric but that adds to the charm of the hotel and the overall experience. The bedrooms were spacious and beds/pillows exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom was amazing and felt modern but historic. There was a shared kitchenette on the floor that had lots of appliance options. The hotel is right across from the downtown boardwalk and easy to access with lots of parking. We will never forget our stay and would love to return someday!

something funny is going on....one of the front staff was arrogant and condescending to say the least...they have a sign in the lobby that states you can be charged $60 if you wear your shoes past the entrance or talk too loudly in the hallway...
