There's a ventilation problem caused by not having a pee trap on the shower drains. My reservation was only for a few nights so I solved the problem by by soaking the bath mat in water and covering the drain with it and leaving the bathroom exhaust fan on and the window slightly ajar. While I don't necessarily blame the hotel for this, while I was there the local police came into my room and went through my stuff and left my hotel room door wide open. The police went through all of the rooms in the hotel and when the staff could not find a key for one of the rooms the police shut the hotel down and I had to wait outside with my luggage and start looking for another hotel to stay for my last night. Before I was able to check into another hotel, the police left the manager of the hotel apologized and said I could go back to my room. I have no idea what the police were looking for if they found it or why they decided to finally leave, but it was a major inconvenience. I don't know if the police were there because of something the hotel had done or one of the guests had done or if this is just standard operating procedure in Istanbul. Anyway, I thought it was worth noting. Outside of these two issues, the room was clean, comfortable and extremely well located for the price paid. Also, despite the inconveniences, I would actually consider staying here again.

That's right., It's a double-edged sword. Being in a touristy area is nice because you can walk to tourist sites and see some interesting things without having to catch a cab, but it also comes with very overpriced restaurants nearby, eople approaching you on the street trying to sell you stuff and the usual hassles of tourist areas. You can find good restaurants pretty easily that don't have tourist prices just by asking Google maps for exactly that, it only takes a little effort. My room did not have a p-trap on the shower drain so sewer gas was seeping into the room, I resolved the issue by simply putting the bath mat over the shower drain when it wasn't in use. Overall it was a pretty good value at the price that I paid which was $***a night.
