Dimora Pietra Antica

The location was great and the place was unique in style. Quaint and cozy. The hosts were lovely and stayed on top of issues and tried to find solutions. They also recommended some places.

More could have been offered in terms of it being a bnb. Perhaps they could partner with the nearby cafes to offer guests fresh breakfast instead of cookies and packaged treats only and also provide them a more cultured experience. The place could have been cleaner upon my arrival. Unfortunately, there was also a bit of an ant problem. Perhaps due to the heat or the packaged sweets.

This accommodation is right in the heart of the action, being situated on the edge of Bari Vecchia, and as such, you literally just have to step outside your front door and you are amongst the labyrinth of lanes and churches. It is very convenient for exploring old Bari and 'must visits' like the Cathedral, Basilica and Castello Svevo. The accommodation itself is spacious and beautiful, and I would say, constructed in the style of the Sassi of Matera (cave dwellings). The double bed was huge, very comfortable and I had a very good night's sleep on it. Miky, who manages the accommodation, was extremely welcoming and really helpful with local, quality restaurant recommendations. He was also very responsive with any questions or queries I had. A basket of breakfast goodies was provided, along with juice, water, sweets, espresso coffee and a lovely gift bottle of olive oil (the owner has an olive grove I believe). Finally, you are surrounded by locals sitting outside their homes and chatting in the evening. So, if you want an authentic Italian experience...

There was a distinct smell of damp every time you entered the accommodation (there are no windows), which you generally didn't notice soon after. Also, there is a curtain on the front door providing privacy, but a blind would be better, as the streetlight outside shines through and the bedroom is not as dark as it could be at night. Finally, for the size of the accommodation, I thought the bathroom was a little small.

Nel cuore di Bari Vecchia, Dimora Pietra Antica è un alloggio pieno di personalità e fascino. Micky, l'host, si è sempre preoccupato del mio soggiorno e gliene sono grato. Ottima la smart tv e la connessione a internet.

Il vero problema dell'abitazione a piano terra è la mancanza di finestre che impedisce un ricircolo di aria necessario a eliminare l'eccessiva umidità. Consiglierei anche l'acquisizione di un forno a microonde.
