Good space for 4 people

All good

Very smart, compact, well decorated cottage in the centre of Newborough village with services nearby. Clearly marked parking, small patio and larger communal garden area (which sadly we didn't use due to poor weather during our brief stay). Spacious bedrooms and easily accessible shower.

Sofas were small and quite hard. We live in a cottage ourselves so understand the challenges of finding appropriately sized furniture for smaller lounges - these just need to be higher quality to offer comfort to all ages of guests. Again mattresses not of the comfort and quality expected for the price paid which is a pity as the bedrooms themselves are gorgeous.

Pristine, comfortable, enclosed yard for the dog, and good, helpful, friendly communication from the host.

Uneasy about paying a separate deposit. Quite a few rules for checking out.

The house is fine. Well decorated and fairly comfortable. However, the number of rules, request for a large deposit, long list of fines that would be exacted if an even longer list of check-out requirements (12 specific tasks) were not fulfilled was completely off-putting. see next section for details.

The communication or more the communication style of the host needs reviewing. Immediately on booking you are issued with a message detailing a further 8 rules, and 4 potential extra fees, plus fines that will be issued e.g. if you don't strip the bedding, if you don't clean the crockery etc. Direct communication asking re bedding provision was answered in a hugely passive-aggressive manner by the host who on 2 separate occasions implied that we were trying to sneak in more guests than we had booked for, and that extra charges would apply, also stating that we were not allowed any visitors! Before arrival another message "don't arrive earlier than 3pm"....(unnecessary - of course one would not expect that without prior arrangement). Then on arrival, there are signs in almost every room, detailing more and more very specific rules (no shoes on carpet, no candles, no dye, no tan (!), no pans on worktops, no parties, quiet hours). Then an exhausting list of things that must be completed on check out or fines will be imposed: turn off lights, turn off heating, wash dishes, wipe down work surfaces, remove all bedding, place used bedding in a specific place, unused beds to be labelled, dishcloths in a different place, lock all doors, pull all blinds down, dirty towels in yet another specific place, notify your departure etc etc etc . Especially crap seeing as this draconian information contradicted itself (one sign says check out at 11, another said 10am). This massively excessive rule list made us nervous of staying at the property - it's hard to relax when you think you're about to get a fine for anything that is slightly out of place on check out. Most of the rules are just common sense. There is really no need to write all this down - as a host you have to take a small amount of risk when you rent your property.
