Friendly English speaking staff at reception. The room was basic but the beds comfortable and clean. A great choice at breakfast which was excellent. We stayed at the start and finish of the Buirabahnli Safari 3 day hike 🥾

Superb

Simple and rustic, comfortable single bed, exceptionally clean. Very friendly staff and great breakfast. No sound isolation, so can her neigbouring rooms, but quiet hours were respected, so was very quiet overnight. Great choice if travelling on a tight budget and happy to use shared bathroom facilities.

I enjoyed my stay a lot

The staff at reception were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The building is quite old and the hostel part in which I stayed could need some renovation. But the room was quite big, the bed was comfortable, there was a desk, a washing basin in the room, wifi was excellent and everything worked. There was always a bathroom or a toilet in the hallway available. There is a lift and a tea buffet to get a cup of tea whenever you want one. I love that! Breakfast was great as well. I enjoyed my stay a lot and will definitely come again!

The building is quite old and there is a lot of worn-down carpets everywhere, not everyone's cup of tea. The only thing I missed was some good blinds to darken the room during the night, there was only one curtain. Also, there was a bit of noise from the rooms around when it was time to sleep. But nothing dramatic.

Wonderful place to stay.

Hostel Engelberg was a great place to stay with kids. Great breakfast, great restaurant downstairs, great view of the mountains when you can see them through the clouds. Could not be more central. The owners are so friendly you could not ask for a better stay. Price to value of Hostel Engelberg cannot be beat in Switzerland - at least the parts that I have seen.

Perfekt für einen kurzen Aufenthalt übers Wochenende!

Die Lage war super, sehr nahe gelegen am Bahnhof, der Gondelbahn und sehr Zentral in der Altstadt. Auch die Zimmer sowie die Gemeinschaftsdusche und Toiletten waren sehr sauber.

Hostel is verouderd, maar hotel gedeelte is prima

Het ontbijt was geweldig! Zeer vriendelijke behulpzame medewerkers. Prima ligging midden in het centrum (autovrij straatje). Hotel gedeelte is prima, maar de hostel kamers zijn niet o.k.. Engelberg is erg mooi en een aanrader voor wandelen.

Het hostel gedeelte was zeer vies en verouderd: overal vlekken, beschadigingen, schimmel, houtrot. Hostel is aan renovatie toe, het oogt alsof er sinds de jaren 70 niks is opgeknapt of verbeterd. Extreem gehorige kamers. Wanneer bovenburen met een stoel schuiven of een deur sluiten, dan klinkt dat alsof de boel boven wordt afgebroken. Lawaai tot 1 uur 's nachts en rond 6 uur begon de ellende weer. Ondanks oordoppen heb ik weinig kunnen slapen, maar ik ben wel wat gevoelig voor geluid. Ik heb geen probleem met een basic kamer, zoals een verblijf in een berghut. Maar hier werd de rusttijd (v.a. 22 uur) helaas niet gerespecteerd door de andere gasten.
