When you arrive, you’ll step through a stone archway entrance and feel as though you’re stepping back in time. You’ll find oak-beamed ceilings, double oak doors, and an ancient flagstone floor in the hallway. Period artwork adorns the walls, and the original Tudor fireplace takes centre stage in the cosy living room. The home is warm and comfortable, with modern amenities like a coffee machine and luxurious toiletries ensuring a relaxing stay for all. You won’t want to leave this historic haven.
French doors from the vaulted kitchen lead to a serene courtyard. When the sun is shining, it’s a lovely spot for a morning coffee, or for an alfresco feast. Best of all, it’s just the beginning of this wonderful home’s outside space. A small path leads from the courtyard to a secret garden – this really is the perfect Cotswolds cottage. Admire the greenery as you stroll around the pond, or relax on a sun lounger with a glass of lemonade and a good book. The pretty garden is the jewel in the crown of this glorious home.

It sits just a stone’s throw from Lechlade’s town centre, and its antique shops, tearooms and boutiques. It’s in the heart of the Cotswolds, on the border of Oxfordshire and Gloucester, so there’s no shortage of wonderful day trips. Perhaps you’ll drive twenty-five minutes into Cirencester, or admire the honey-stone buildings of Burford. One of the best ways to enjoy the scenery is from the water – you need only walk four minutes from the cottage for canoe rental. Meander along the River Thames before heading to one of the local pubs to warm up next to a roaring fire, with a pint in hand.
