Mine House

We had the pleasure to stay at Mine House for almost two weeks. From the very first day, host Gustavo and his lovely family welcomed us as if we were long-lost family members. They even shared their fresh, home-grown vegetables and fruit with us. Their genuine warmth and kindness truly added something special to our overall experience on Madeira. The house is situated on a very pretty spot high up in the village of Calheta. The views are breathtaking, looking over the villages and towards the ocean. It never ceased to amaze us during our entire stay. Mine House is great, with a well-equipped kitchen and a washing machine at your disposal. The floor plan is spacious, as is the outside area. We recommend a stay at Mine House without a doubt and we are sure you will enjoy your stay just as much as we did. We for sure look forward to returning to the island and Gustavo's family!

The road to Mine House is quite challenging for drivers who are not yet experienced in driving the steep and narrow roads of Madeira. However, in our eyes, it is worth the challenge. Gustavo is a very gifted driving teacher and taught us how to drive the road to his home. He took a lot of time and taught us in a lighthearted way, which resulted in us gaining a lot of confidence and new skills. Eventually, we switched to a very suitable car (from a Dacia Duster with manual transmission to a Volkswagen T-Cross with automatic transmission), which was a true companion in managing the Madeira roads. To our perception, the interior could use some extra cosiness, but the welcoming spirit of the family, combined with the views and the outdoor-oriented life you live on Madeira, compensates for it wholeheartedly.

Helt magiskt! Fantastiska människor som hyrde ut, jätte hjälpsamma! Läget var egentligen helt enastående men ändå extremt skrämmande att ta sig upp för alla smala branta vägar upp men helt klart värt!!! Man måste ha bil! Läget var väldigt bra till många bra trails och stranden var super fin!

Nous avons passé un séjour exceptionnel. L’habitation est confortable, très bien équipée, spacieuse, dotée de deux terrasses offrant une vue sublime sur l’océan. Nous nous y sommes sentis comme à la maison. L’emplacement est idéal pour sillonner l’île et partir à la découverte de ses merveilles. En ajoutant à tout ça, l’accueil chaleureux, la gentillesse, les attentions, la disponibilité et le sourire des hôtes, tout était parfait. Nous espérons pouvoir y revenir.
