Besides being the birthplace of Adnams Brewery, which began operations in the town in 1872, Southwold is notable for its own lighthouse, museum, and attractive pier, which features a variety of colourful beach huts and hosts the regular Southwold Model Yacht regatta. A lot of great restaurants can be found in town, and many of them pay homage to the town's proximity to the water by serving a variety of seafood and fish dishes.
