NO BREAKFAST! NO RESTAURANT. There used to be and many other guests arrived, having stayed at the Mana Kai previously when there was a great restaurant..they also WERE NOT TOLD THERE IS NOW NO RESTAURANT!!! before they arrived, and were VERY UPSET.
I was not sent the code to enter my condo til the time of during my flight!!!! and i do not check emails while in transit nor should i be expected to, so i could not enter the condo on arrival (about 3am my time!). I called the SOS number and thank goodness someone called me back after i left a message (i was about to sleep in the foyer of the hotel) and after a few minutes they found the passcode for me to enter.
NO WATER, NOTHING, not even a Welcome Note from the owners, to Welcome me!
And this was not a cheap hotel room/condo!
I met a couple the next morning who were disgusted at the condition of their room (also booking.com) and were expecting 2 rooms, instead of one. They were also shocked by the lack of information given us Previous to booking about the reality of what to expect.
I did meet with one of the representatives, Michelle, and spoke with several others, in the office along the road from the hotel (hours 8-4 mon-fri) who were Very friendly, responsive and capable, just NOT ON SITE.
I had asked Specifically to be able to see the ocean FROM MY BED (while lying down), which I could not. what i looked out onto at night was lots of Lights - that were then reflected in the big mirror, so Doubly Bright!
The swimming pool was beneath my patio (I had also mentioned I did not want that) and the kids the first full night were SCREAMING, taking no notice of the Security man, til after the fourth time he asked them to get out/leave the pool.
There were also teenage/20s local boys who were yelling and flashing lights below til well after hours (10pm being the 'Quiet Time' (1AM for me and many of the guests - the hotel management i think should change that to 8pm!))
I HAD TO BUY MY OWN TOILET PAPER once the first few rolls ran out!!!! If i had booked through the hotel they would have provided.
Also, minor, but the screen across the patio doors was off its rails. If i had booked through the hotel, not booking.com, they would have had a maintenance repair man quickly fix it. Instead it was left off.
There was a new couch apparently in my condo and the kitchen was pretty well kitted out. No complaints there! The bed was comfortable. Nicely tiled floor. And the place was spacious for one person. [There was a second room with a bed that i ignored - a street or condo light was pouring in through the slit in the curtains/blinds at night].
I rented snorkel and flippers downstairs at a very reasonable price.
Staff in the hotel were mostly friendly.
The nearest real store to buy food and supplies was about 20mins away. There was a small shop, similar to what you might find in a gas station, downstairs, opened at 7am. They were out of the one thing i wanted by 10.30am the day i went in there.
