If I took the time to notice the style of curtain panels on the main windows then I would not have booked! Let me explain why. This style of panel BREAK off ALL the time. When I arrived at the cottage, at least 6 or 7 of the panels were simply missing. It felt unsafe and insecure and created anxiety. It took me a half hour to move the less covering curtain panels over to the other big empty spots. Chore! Everywhere I have traveled with these, it's the same story: poor window coverage, the panel slits break (fall to the floor and become unusuable), the slot in the track breaks and won't even take a panel leaving a big empty hole, they fall off all the time so you're terrified to open and close the drapes and go inside/outside and have to redo all your work when they inevitably fall down again They blow with the AC and its distracting. These are absolutely horrible a pain to my existence. I only tell you this out of good spirits: you MUST invest in some high quality traditional curtains! It is SUCH a gorgeous gorgeous cabin and it is a tragedy to have these horrible awful cheap panels destroy the experience. They risk the entire stay too, because people who aren't from the mountains need to feel privacy with those massive windows in the mountains (they aren't used to the pitch black out there). It's a major comfort thing to cover your windows at night when in the mountains in a cottage. So then, every evening and morning these curtain panels create anxiety, work and effort

My initial impression wasn't good due to the smell when we walked in. Did not care for the deodorizing smell! And the old appliances were a bit of a turn off. But after I got past that the cabin was completely charming! Loved the furnishings and it was well appointed. Having just about anything you'd need. The deck and the fire pit were so nice. Plus the huge stone fireplace was greatly enjoyed. We loved the whole experience and plan to return! firwas

We were allowed to check in at 12:30 instead of 4PM because of my wife's issue which was a nice gesture. We were promised lots of firewood for our 3 night, 4 day stay. The 24th was also our 25th (silver) anniversary. A fire pit didn't interest us.
When we checked in, the cabin was 53 deg. so I raised the it to 70 looking forward to a nice fire. There were only 8 nice pieces of 18" cord wood stored outside. I had requested plenty of wood because my wife had just finished 16 rounds of chemo for breast cancer. I'm glad I brought my own fire lighter because the one there was out of fuel. We had a nice fire and informed our contact the next day who kindly ordered 4 bundles that were delivered that day. We requested the Ace driver to call & request more. The driver said he called, but we never had another delivery. They were very bundles of small kindling wood from McNeely Ace Hardware ($6.99 ea). I burnt thru this wood because it was NOT cord wood. I couldn't get cell service so all calls had to be made when we went towards Brevard for meals. I found some wood during our trips that I could burn, also bought a bow saw & cut wood from around the cabin.
The place was quiet and relaxing with only noise from a truck or 2 at the main road & 2 cases of dogs barking. The ice maker made a lot of noise & never made ice so I bought 2 bags & put in the freezer. 1 mattress needs to be replaced. More of the review on Evolve. Great place after some maintenance and good cleaning.
