Are you looking for the perfect home to accommodate not only friends and family but your dog as well? Then the Lazy Dog Retreat, just 11 miles from Ramulose Ridge Vineyards and featuring a private hot tub, is the perfect choice for your Smith Mountain Lake Vacation!
The main level of this newly renovated home features a bright and comfortable living room with multiple windows overlooking Smith Mountain Lake, a large TV, and a gas fireplace. The open floor plan conveniently leads to a dining area and a newly updated modern kitchen. Leading off the kitchen is a large, wraparound porch with plenty of seating and a gas grill. All three bedrooms and two bathrooms are on this level as well.
The lower level offers a family room with a TV and board games for everyone to enjoy, a game room with an air hockey table and dart board, a bathroom, and laundry. Head outside and have a seat on the lower patio or spend some time relaxing on the spacious dock equipped with built-in bench seating and a wide beautiful view of the lake. Paddle around the water in the two provided kayaks or on the paddleboard and enjoy the summer nights around the firepit.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lazy Dog Retreat. The homeowners have done an amazing job updating this house, with very pretty and comfortable decor. Positives include nicely renovated home, beautiful views of the lake, all bedrooms on main floor, extremely well-stocked kitchen, and very comfortable beds. House was extremely clean. As another reviewer commented, it's not obvious that it is a dog-friendly home (other than decorations and thoughtful amenities), there were no odors or significant animal hair. Meal preparation was easy; there is a very nice gas grill on the deck with plenty of propane provided, and again, probably the best-stocked kitchen of any place we've ever rented. Landscaping with firepit (not used due to weather) and steps down to lake and dock, but they can be a challenge for someone with limited mobility (such as an elderly family member). We enjoyed the provided kayaks and life vests, and the house is on a nice quiet cove. Check-in and out were straightforward, wifi worked well. Not a huge fan of Vacasa based on their communication in the months before our vacation, but we would likely rent this house again (definitely if it was through a different company). Overall wonderful home.

Lovely, more recently updated home in Huddleston. Easy for a family or a couple of couples to share space. Grill was newer and in great condition, which isn’t always the case. Convenient for us since we cook a lot while visiting SML. We are not a pet family, and while it’s dog-friendly, don’t be deterred if you’re not into pets for some reason. It is a super clean, well-maintained property. We used all of the amenities (hot tub, fire pit, etc, and everything worked great). We would happily come back!
