Red Roof Inn Tampa Bay - St Petersburg

Great laid-back place,

The staff including housekeepers are super friendly. This is a very clean and nice looking hotel, the rooms are very clean as well. For such a low cost I was actually shocked at how well kept up it is. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely stay again.

I wouldn't book another night here if it weren't for daytime manager named Mike. The cleaning crew manager is a man and he is extremely rude! He purposely goes out of his way to inconvenience to the guests. Especially if there's a complaint made. I thought there's not supposed to be retaliation to a guest when the truth is told.

I went for gift to myself for my birthday. First night room 112 roaches in the bed, sink, microwave and floor. Didn't sleep at all. I called the front desk around 1am the girl at the desk said " well you can check out" why would I do that I booked for 2 nights?? So next morning I called corporate and filed complaint. They changed my room. Gave me and extension on my check out to 1pm. No refund or any kind of discount on the night I paid for. I got no sleep, was unable to even feel comfortable in the room. The regional manager didn't seem that they owed me anything because of that. Other staff members even said they know that room is nasty and has roaches. I was apauld by he response I got. I'm not one to complain much. So I changed rooms and accepted the extension for 1pm check out. The next morning I got a knock on the door from housekeeping around 10:40am lady asked if I was checking out. I told her I had a 1pm check out. Laid back down. At 11:26 got a knock on the door from Ricardo he stated " you have 5 minutes to check out or I'm calling the police" I tried to tell him I have authorization for 1pm check out. He said " no mommie I call police" I asked him to check with front desk he stated he was from the front desk. The he left. At that point I hadn't been able to take my blood pressure medicine blood pressure high head pounding, went into panic attack. I called the sheriff department. As I'm on the phone with the sheriff's office I get a knock on the door. Different man he tells me I need to check out. I told him I'm on the phone with sheriff's office. He said good you need to call them. After I hung up with them I called the front desk and asked him if he could come to the room. He said no you need to check out. I proceeded to inform him of the situation. Then he opened his email and found out I was telling the truth. He agreed to let me stay until 1pm at that time it was 12:02pm already. I was upset, crying hadn't taken my medicine didn't have time to take a shower, relax and get coffee. My two days I paid for to relax and have alone time as a gift to myself for my birthday was taken away from me by Red Roof inn. They now choose to show no accountability for it when they know it was due to their property cleanliness and miscommunication and staff that all of this occured. I'm entitled to my 2 days of my time that I planned and payed for. We have to be held accountable for our actions as humans and so should companies. What happened made more of an impact on me than they know. The panic attack I had to endure is not fun. My blood pressure going up where I can feel my head pounding is not a good feeling, I just thank God I didn't pass out. That's another thing, I didn't even get to start my day off by saying my prayer to God which is always the first thing I do. Red Roof Inn needs to be held accountable and made this right. I never asked for a refund. I asked for them to give me back my 2 days. Since they took it from me give it to me. Best regards Donna Morris [email protected]
