Perfect cottage

Beautiful location, very spacious and exceptionally well kept premises. Lots of information from owners before arrival to enable planning. Walked all over Hay, no need to use the car. Perfectly situated.

Location to Hay is fabulous. Loads of room for everyone. Tub was fabulous. Very easy check in and out.

I understand the average UK household has 20-100 spiders in it, this one has the maximum amount. Spiders everywhere. Old webs. New webs. Enormous black and scary spiders falling on you in the bathroom. If that bothers you at all this is NOT the house for you. They are absolutely everywhere. Very low standard of cleaning. Old dirt and filth. Whoever is cleaning this place needs a tutorial on cleaning at the hospitality level. Super disappointing to check in and find crumbs on the counter and dirty floors and dust everywhere. Dishes put away filthy. I just hope the bedding was actually clean. It was very gross actually. The beds in the twin room are horrid. Our party ended up sharing the larger beds to avoid anyone sleeping on them. There is no dryer. It’s a hang dry situation. We were very lucky the weather was nice so the clothes only took two days to dry outside. There is no AC. It was 26-27 while we were here and the rooms are incredibly hot and stuffy. Hard to sleep. No screens on windows so can’t open them without the risk of more bugs joining the already high population. For the cost of this stay, I cannot recommend it. I am certain you can do much better in this price range.

Superb!

Hazelbrae was exactly what we were looking for - great location (5 minute walk in to Hay on Wye); well equipped kitchen with an easy to use cooker; safe, enclosed garden and courtyard for the dogs; comfy beds; two bathrooms; clean; and dog friendly .

My Mum is in her 80s and found the stairs a bit tricky as quite narrow and deep. She managed, but someone else might find them more difficult.

Wonderful Stay - will definitely be back

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hazelbrae in Hay-On-Wye, and I must say it was an amazing experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed with all the amenities and features the house had to offer. First and foremost, the full kitchen was a real standout. It was well-equipped with all the appliances and utensils I needed to prepare meals during my stay. The availability of Netflix and a strong Wi-Fi connection were also huge perks. The back patio with table and chairs was a delightful surprise. It provided a lovely space to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine while taking in the beautiful surroundings. It added a wonderful touch of relaxation to my stay. And let's not forget about the comfortable beds. After a long day of exploring the town and its bookshops, sinking into a cosy bed was the perfect way to end the day. Overall, my stay at this house in Hay-On-Wye exceeded my expectations. It had everything I needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a home away from home while visiting this charming town.

A comfortable stay in Hay

We loved our visit to Hay & our stay at Hazelbrae. It was nice of the owners to provide tea & milk for our arrival. We found the house to be homely & comfortable during our stay. The two main bedrooms were large & had lovely views of the countryside. The location of the property was also a big plus point. It was only a short walk to explore the beautiful town of Hay On Wye. It was also a convenient base from which to visit the Brecon Beacons national park.

The only minor observation would have been to have use of the higher terraced garden areas for sitting. Especially when we had such nice weather & these areas had the sun up until late in the evening. There was no outside furniture on those terraces e.g. bench. The owners have provided a nice new dining set on the main patio area though which we appreciated.

Location for Hay was good but a bit of a walk uphill could be difficult for some people. Hosts made a good effort to accommodate us not wanting to use a duvet. Well equipped kitchen

No chest of drawers in the big bedrooms so needed to use a suitcase. Parking on site is difficult and only suitable for quite a small car. One night we couldn't find parking on the street either.
