Casa dos Mercados

From the moment we arrived, we felt so cared for with a lovely welcoming note. The room is beautifully arranged with calming tones and a very comfortable bed with crisp bed linens. The robes left in the bathroom were so cozy and the shower was amazing with really great smelling soap. It was a dream after driving all day. It was also surprisingly quiet even being right above the main street! The two rooftop pools are a delight, one warmer on the first level and a cooler, smaller pool on the top level. There are umbrellas for shade and loungers that made for easy reading by the pool after a long day. There is a kitchen area for breakfast with delectable snacks that they allow for grazing throughout the day. They really have thought of every detail. I can't say enough about this place. It was my favorite stay in Portugal. We loved the town of Olhao and it was so cool being across the street from the fish market, which we visited each morning we were there. The staff was the most gracious woman and was so very kind to me, even through my struggles with the language barrier, she is so sweet. She made the best scrambled eggs, too! If you are thinking of going to this area, book your stay here; you will not regret it!

Excellent location, nice breakfast and decor

My suite was very dark, only one small window in the room

It's a really nice property in a great location right in the centre of the town overlooking the harbour.

Nothing. Small points to consider are :- 1) the pools require a fair degree of mobility to get in and out of 2) there was no window in our bathroom and the lighting was dim

— great location, right opposite the main market, loads of cafes around, across the street from the lagoon promenade; — nice minimalist design and building itself; — great view from the rooftop

— complete lack of room cleaning; the only thing the staff does is make the bed and, occasionally and at their discretion, take out the trash. They never changed the towels, never washed or even swept the floor, didn’t do the dishes, let alone dust the room; — dirty swimming pools full of dead bugs; — meager breakfast (cold scrambled eggs, cold cuts, cheese, and berries and fruit — everything is put out for several days in a row if it wasn’t eaten the day before); be sure to wash the berries and dishes before use; — the view from Suite 2 is directly onto the wall of the neighboring building
