Vasia Resort and SPA, Sissi, Crete

Good location in Sisi, good quality rooms, food very good, drinks ok. Overall very good. Manager resolved issue with screaming young children in next room by allowing us to move to a different room which was much better.

On our first morning we were woken up at 6am by a family in the next room screaming and shouting and kids generally running riot for over an hour. Reported to reception and she referred to manager and we were able to moved rooms.

The hotel was a great place for our family vacation. We spent 8 days, and at first we planned for a half-board plan but after two meals and the pool bar service that exceeded expectations, we decided to upgrade to an all-inclusive plan. The food in the main restaurant was great, lots of options in every meal! The pools were very child friendly, with one small water slide and 4 medium water slides that were a great attraction for our kids (ages 4, 6 and 9). There were a few activities during the day and evening attractions that were also nice for the kids and ourselves, like the evening fire show and the kids dance in the club. The hotel is also 40 min from Heraklion, the aquarium and a big Waterpark, which we also visited. There's a market, car rental, beach and restaurants nearby.

The lighting in the room was really an issue. We could barely see what was in our suitcases. Apart from the water slides there aren't any other attractions to do with the kids in the hotel. The playground is really small, and the kids club is a complimentary service with their own staff. Our children don't speak English and were embarrassed to stay there without us, so we couldn't really use the space with them.

We liked that you could walk into Sissi and swim in the harbour. Great position on Crete to drive to water parks, aquarium and Agios Nikolaus etc. The room was spacious. Nice swimming pools and the food and drinks were great. Staff were friendly. We liked the pet hotel.

No beach in front of property and we had a carpark view. Air conditioning kept turning off if you didn't constantly move an arm so hot at night. It was expensive in high season.

The fresh fruit provided in the restaurant was excellent. Staff were friendly, and Julian and Katerina were particularly wonderful. We had a 2 storey room with a private pool which we couldn't recommend enough. Lots of room for our family of 5! The manager on reception was very friendly and went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable. We would recommend the local beach cove and Sissi village is sweet.

The hotel is definitely more 3.5-4 star, not 5. The general decor of the hotel and grounds is tired. The entertainment is "ok" but the kids club is quite poor, and the kids club staff not particularly engaging. The buffet restaurant food is "ok" but the same every day. There are only two a la carte restaurants and they serve the same food as the buffet restaurant but on a larger scale!! The all inclusive alcohol is poor. The table knives are really blunt, not even sharp enough to cut meat!!
