Nice comfy lodge

Me and my children loved the location of our lodge. We are already looking to return. Sandy balls is really lovely place for a holiday.

The outdoor pool wasnt open til the last day of our trip but my lil ine was too unwell to use it after picking up a bug whilst at sandy balls. The accommodation was lovely but all the bathroom blinds were damaged on arrival and no locks in bathroom door and no pans or baking trays for cooking. The restaurant was closed Tuesday and weds. The map for the walks was not well written so we easily got lost and in a different place. Would be nice if there was guided walks. The Lodge door locks when it closed so make sure u always have a key if u go even outside on your terrace..would been nice to have 2 keys as there was 6 of us and ine key so nobody could go out in two groups as someone had be there with the key. The accommodation had alot of moths dust and spiders esp at night time when u laying in bed at night. The heartwood woodside retreats also have normal double size beds not the king size beds stated when booking. I know a bed is a bed but the picture is different from the reality. I couldnt get phone signal either in bluebells area. And parking spaces were miles from the lodge. They have the low numbers by the higher numbers and the high one down at the low ones. I needed ro be right near the lodge as im disabled with disabled children n a pushchair. Didnt wan a disabled caravan as they are right next to the road and the areas are way to over stimulating for my special needs children. I would go back to sandy balls though as the families visiting were really lovely. Sandy balls staff wont even say hello unless u keep saying it to them. They are not cheerful or approachable. The lad at the pool desk was friendly and answered questions and the lads in the bar were kind but anywhere else no. Be careful roo if your children win prizes as we kept finding each time that families would go past and swipe the toys won out kids hands and pots. My children had their toys stolen 3 times under their noses and the other kids wouldnt give them back.

Ideal for us, located 20 steps from everything.

The balcony had an ants nest - tried clearing but next day all back. This left this area unusable. Shame as was a very hot weekend.

Loved the area.

Have been to Sandy Balls at least a dozen times over 30 years. It's looking tired, lodges are crammed in ,no open space between and too many different designs. It looks a mess. Waited over an hour for food in the pub, it wasn't busy but too many takeaways to fulfill. Food was plentiful but poor. We didn't eat on site again. Passed 6 staff one morning whilst walking, not one "good morning". The standards have dropped. We love the area and will return but not to Sandy balls.
