ASK Homestay

We stayed at ASK homestay for five nights and we were so satisfied with our experience! Our host Kamal was super communicative, even well before our arrival, and throughout our stay he would always respond to our messages instantly. We really enjoyed ordering tea and breakfast, prepared fresh by Kamal's mother! The room was comfortable and homey, with fast internet, luxurious bed, mosquito net and fresh water (although unfiltered for sensitive stomachs), and we enjoyed having access to two really nice patio areas in front of a lovely stream that runs behind the house. This is a perfect spot for walking up to the Mahanevnawa monastery or nearby UVA Halpewatte tea factory and plantation. Ella central is about a fifty minute walk through gorgeous hilly farmland or a 1000 to 2000 rupee tuktuk ride away.

Everything was so wonderful for such an incredible price! If there is an opportunity to do so in the future, the plumbing in the attached bathroom of room number 2 could be improved to reduce odors.

I had a very pleasant stay in Ella and felt comfortable from the moment I arrived. The owner was very kind and always willing to help with anything I needed, from arranging transport around the area to suggesting activities, organizing meals, and even providing utensils so I could make tea. The room was very comfortable and had everything I needed for a relaxing stay. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others visiting Ella.

Each and every aspect of the stay was 11/10!!! The facilities were very nice, the food was great, Kamal was an outstanding host, and he gave great recommendations on places to visit and put us in contact with an excellent auto driver who took us there. ASK isn’t just great value for money, it’s great value PERIOD.

It was perfect. To be honest, I think they could charge more, as they are providing more value (communication, recommendations, support, etc) than anywhere else we stayed.
