A bit more about the history of our house:
Portel des Arnaud was a provencal Mazet with an olive grove.
The large building was built in 1861 by a wealthy owner.
The house became a silkworm and was used as breeding for silkworms. The entire top floor of the house was reserved for this purpose.
After the decline of silk, the house of Portel des Arnaud, returned to the family Arnaud.

The cellar was created.
Fitted or reinforced concrete wine tanks were built on the ground floor.

At the same time, the first floor of the house was occupied by the owners of the Durfort pencil who made it their branch.
Later, the vacant pit offices were re-equipped to house the German soldiers, who remained there for the duration of the war.
At the end of the war, Fernand Arnaud was able to take over the house and lived there with his wife Yvette. They created in 1969 guest rooms.
The first rural lodgings in the Cevennes were born.
The Portel des Arnaud, since its construction receives from the world.

Currently, in a park planted with trees and flowers, bordered by an olive grove, our house of character combines charm and modernity.
