Hotel Sunshine Kinugawa

Onsen, amenities and convenient food options.

Room was older and smelled of cigarettes and bath towels were old.

We loved the old school traditional sleeping on the floor and the views are amazing . The private hot bath was next level … outdoor part was the best and it was very very hot

Food was very average for the price and the staff tried to shove you out when it was close to finish . Felt like you are being watched when eating

The room was good value with dinner and breakfast included. Both meals were buffet style and had a variety of options. The onsen was also very nice with multiple pools of different temperatures and an outdoor bath.

Unfortunately, the room smelled like cigarette smoke, especially when the air conditioning was on, due to many years of people smoking inside. I couldn't use the AC due to the smell being too overwhelming. The hotel in general is looking dated. Unfortunately due to the smell, I would not be able to stay again. Also be aware that trains from Yumoto Onsen (the closest station) to Shimo-Imaichi or Nikko are not super frequent. It's nice for a quieter onsen experience, but be aware that it is quite far from the Nikko World Heritage sites.

The view of the river was great and having a public bath onsite for daily use was awesome. Not a lot around for restaurants so we booked the dining plan. It was okay. Buffet is not my favourite but there was a lot of food and variety. Nice to see the hotel attracts a lot of families. Parking was free and convenient. You need a car if you’re staying in this area.

The room smelled so strongly of smoke every time we entered. Needs a refresh in a big way. The room wasn’t dirty, just old and a bit dingy. Same with public bath.
