The hotel is beautiful. The staff is amazing, aways there to help. You can ask them for a bike (which is included in the booking) and go for a ride to discover the region. The highlight is of course the hotel’s restaurant: the best food experience we ever had (and we’ve had a few). I

One of the best hotels we have stayed in during over 40 years of extensive travelling.

Everything went well. It is a superb hotel. We stayed only one night on our way from Cherbourg to Southern Brittany, but wished we could have stayed longer. It made for the best possible start to our holiday.

It looked nice enough

I avoided answering this questionnaire the first two times but since they keep asking: I wrote to explain that my boat was due to be delivered to the adjacent marina but had been delayed. I therefore asked. to either cancel or receive a credit. They didn't have the courtesy to even reply but simply charged me for both nights (booked separately). I understand that, strictly speaking, they are under no obligation to help. On the other hand, a little good will would have meant a lot and cost them nothing- they were still selling rooms on the nights in question. Had they been full, I could understand that a cancellation would cost them money. Not being full, they would have lost nothing except the goodwill.

No shower😮only hand held nozzle in the bath. Plenty of room for a great walk in shower. No sun beds again plenty of room on the terrace.

A few days in Normandy

Fantastic location and room got an upgrade due to low occupancy with a brilliant view of the harbour entrance. Great breakfast everyday and indulged in Dinner on the Thursday evening. Excellent throughout

Pleasant but some problems

Spacious attractive room. Lovely staff. Newly decorated hotel.

!) Room was very hot. in March/-April. OK because big windows and sea view BUT air conditioning out dated and inadequate leading to hot uncomfortable nights. 2) Big shower but not safe for anyone with problems of balance or age. There needs to be a wall rail for support. Same problem with bath. 3) Restaurant closed. The season is open and very few quality restaurants in driving area.

Perfect stopover.

Lovely hotel. Great position on waterside. Spotlessly clean and well fitted out room. Only stayed overnight en route to ferry and didn't eat in but its restaurant is said to be very good.

The bath with shower attachment was difficult to operate. The coffee machine was impossible to operate.

Wish we could have stayed longer than the one night.

Enjoyed a lovely late lunch on the veranda upon arrival and enjoyed the beautiful view of the estuary.

The hotel restaurant was closed for the evening and although another nearby restaurant was recommended we were made to feel rushed there and treated rather rudely. Obviously not the hotel’s fault but it ruined our evening. Our room faced the road and we were woken at 4:40am by a hydraulic truck picking up the trash and it was difficult to get back to sleep with the slamming of truck doors. Again, not the hotel’s fault but an estuary view room would have been better if available.

Brilliant hotel, marvellous location and views, great room and breakfast and amazing staff.

We were given an upgrade and had a wonderful room with sea views. Breakfast was excellent and in the beautiful dining room. All staff were brilliant and went out of their way to be helpful.

The room was good, the food was amazing, the views were stunning and the town itself is lovely. Very nice walks along the coastline and the locals were very friendly.

There wasn't anything we didn't like but food on the breakfast buffet would have benefitted from being better protected from the flies.

Lovely design and location shame about the service

Location excellent. Service very poor.

The evening receptionist was surly and unhelpful. My daughter was initially told she was too late to request a cot for her 8 month old, then that she could have one but she would have to take it the room and assemble herself, we were happy to do this but her manner was unacceptable. When she requested sheets the receptionist said she was too busy and had phones to answer - they were not noticeably ringing. The restaurant, bar and lounge were closed. When my daughter asked to use the high chair she found under the stairs to give her baby some tea she was first told no, then to do it in the lobby and finally grudgingly allowed to put it in the lounge. On arrival at breakfast I was asked my drink preference and asked for tea - 30 minutes later it had not arrived. I appreciate the hospitality industry has recruitment issues but the hotel should make it clear on the website that full facilities are not available and consider a reduction in rates to reflect this.

love Carteret and the views from the property are fabulous.

the restaurant service wasn’t fantastic, although the food was very good. had to ask for water and ask for coffee and digestives at the end of the meal. Also trying to get the bill at the end of the evening, we had to wait whilst three waiters talked to the only other couple in the restaurant for 15 mins.
