INNSIDE by Melia is our hotel of choice whenever we stay in Manchester. On this occasion we upgraded during the check in process to a suite. The suite located on the top floor was excellent, much bigger than a standard room, with a sofa, lovely city view and spotlessly clean.

Our stay at the hotel was overall acceptable, but fairly average. The breakfast was decent, though the selection was somewhat limited, especially when it came to hot food options. The hotel room was generally clean, but it clearly showed signs of wear and tear. There were stains on the wall-to-wall carpet, visible water damage on the ceiling above the shower, large scratch marks in the paint above the bed, and a noticeable cut in the carpet. The hotel would benefit from a general refurbishment, and based on our experience, I would not rate it higher than a three-star hotel.

Typical buffet breakfast with 1or 2 tweaks. Room nice but unsure about the bathroom being part of the bedroom. Think I prefer them separate but I suppose it’s a trend. Staff unfailingly friendly and helpful throughout

The staff on reception I had booked 10 rooms which I had to clarify each one each time a guest arrived. I had to pay a £50 deposit which then I managed to get the guest to place on their card. I didn’t receive my deposit back because the card machine didn’t work on the counter so I had to use another machine in the restaurant which I had to keep asking for to be returned.

Check in was easy and the reception staff were friendly. The room was very clean, the bed was comfy and the bathroom spotless. We appreciated the free soft drinks and chilled water. The hotel is conveniently placed for both shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, there were plenty of hot and cold options, delicious pastries and breads. An easy to use coffee and tea machine is available. Would highly recommend this hotel and will use again.

As soon as I opened the door to my room it stank of smoking that was so strong. I informed reception on my way out for a meal and was told a new room would be reserved for me for when I return from my meal. On return to the hotel the reception staff new nothing of my issue and I was placed in a room with a single bed after paying for a room with a double.

Emails and messages via hotels.com app ignored days prior to check in. Reception staff abrupt and rude, vomit in the lift for hours, rooms very basic. Gino’s dominated the ground floor but it was empty (Saturday) and the hotel lacked warmth or atmosphere. I’ve stayed at the chain before and this is sadly a poor example.
