The Wood Norton

This is a really wonderful hotel with lots of history. The location is beautiful very quiet with wonderful views. The staff are all extremely friendly and professional. Breakfast was really well above average very good indeed

Short break away, booked through Trivago for a resaonable price for 2 nights inclusive of breakfast. Room wasn't located in the main hotel but in Pear Tree Mews. My first impressions were that the annexe needed decorating and new carpets. The room itself was pleasant enough but in need of decoration. Windows were falling apart, seals had come away from frame, wood tired and needed painting. No air condition only a fan which didn't provide much respite from the high day and night time temperatures we were experiencing. Room was clean and tidy with decent TV, working remote and Kettle Tea, Coffee, Milk, Sugar and biscuits provided with two cans of Still Water provided daily. No fridge or safe in the room which was surprising! Although an ironing board, iron and hairdryer were available. Bathroom very spacious a little dated but spotlessly clean with shampoo, shower and conditioner provided. Comfortable bed and decent carpet again spotlessly clean. The Wood Norton is a beautiful old royal hunting lodge in lovely surroundings. The car park is at the top of the hill so is a challenge for anyone with mobilty issues, although limited disabled and drop off spaces at the available at the entrance. Full English Breakfast was very nice, serve yourself to fruit juice, tea, coffee, toast and pastries. More than adequate but not exceptional. Evening meal, great start with Duck Terrine and the main meal was okay Rib Eye Steak Triple Fries. Ordered a large Malbec, wine choice also fair. Enjoyed a trip across to the Richmond Spa an additional £25 per person but nice pool, sauna and steam room, great changing facilities a pleasant staff member. Overall a good experience but I do feel it needs some money spending on the upkeep of the annexe rooms.

This was a last minute escape to get away from the stress at home. The staff were super helpful and they changed my room due to a disability. They are like one big family and would definately be back. Michelle, Rose and Sarah were super helpful and were very professional. Please be aware that the pool is not apart of the hotel and is on the Richmond complex a stones throw away but costs £25! For a 20 minute swim I feel it is not worth it however I felt super relaxed and stayed for a few hours and made the most of it. The beauty treatment was fully booked but I managed to get in up the road at the beauty barn. Food and wine were delicious and I did not want to come home!

Great 3 night stay in suite. Room, food, and the grounds were lovely and as advertised. Very comfortable stay. However, customer service was repeatedly very poor. Unwelcoming greeting on arrival which taints immediate impression, when making requests for afternoon tea it arrived 40 minutes late and without tea, request for an additional fan in room was dismissed and not provided, request to open balcony door refused even though it half opened already etc. It felt like every request wasn’t responded to from the customers perspective, always led to a challenge, and as a customer you leave it feeling devalued and for the price paid then makes you question value for money.
