    Those that like the sights and sounds of an active city will really like the area. If you don't this will not be good for you. It is a loud busy area until after midnight. The cathedral bells ring differently for every 15 minutes 24/7. The squares 4 within one block in any direction have competing sounds all day and well into the night. We never felt threatened in any way day or night, lots of police out and about all the time. There are lots of food choices within a few blocks any direction. The historic centre is amazing. The hotel is a bare place, concrete floors in halways, minimal lighting. Laminate flooring in the room peeling apart. Bathrooms are very small. Disappointed in the balcony maybe 3 feet x 12 feet, more like Romeo and Juliette space. Plastic outdoor chair barely fit. The price is definitly about location. The breakfast though not to my liking was decent , with cold cereal, eggs, beans, cheese,toast, yogurt fruit selection and drinks The wall of glass to the balcony gave an expansive view. With all of this said it felt more like a hostle than hotel.

    The good, the bad and the ugly. A local friend suggested the newly renovated hotel. Website shows a Mexican version of an Ibis. (With furniture bolted to the walls). Once you’re in the building, it feels more like a university residence, or even a shelter for refugees. The check in was a bit chaotic. They gave us a top floor, with a great east view, facing the cathedral and the Palacios. Great for sunrise pictures. The square is very busy, and noisy, but it calms down at night. Lots of homeless ppl sleeping in the square under the arcades. The Cathedral’s bells keep time ringing every 15 minutes. Can be charming, can be annoying. The breakfast is utilitarian: great fresh fruits, terrible eggs. I think for the money (room-rate) you can do better. You might not be in a historical square, but you likely have a better breakfast and a quieter area.
