Hotel 309

Location and value of money is unparalleled but difficult to carry luggages especially if you are in the 5th floor like me. Bathroom door lock is also broken and sometimes unclean

I've stayed in a few shared bath places and this was the best. Two bathrooms per floor shared by not many rooms. Clean. In room fridge and sink. From the little I saw of other travelers they were young and well put together. Nothing like the seeming flop house I stayed in last time with no TP and scary bathroom floors. A major subway station is feet from the door making getting around easy. If all you need from a room is a place to sleep and store your stuff Hotel 309 pleasantly surprises. They even have a cat.

If you book 309 knowing that it is a NYC HOSTEL and NOT a hotel, you will be very pleased. This is by far the best value for a NYC **HOSTEL** that I have found in the city, and I have really shopped around for the best value for the dollar here. What you get is a HUGE PRIVATE ROOM with an extremely comfortable bed, pillows, a huge walk in closet, a whole kitchen area (sink, fridge, counter, cabinets, with Dawn soap, sponge, mugs, cups, dishes, coffee maker, and even coffee essentials included)!! This is huge for a hostel. There are rooms that have a private bathroom included for a higher price. I have never bought those. I have gotten the less expensive room with the shared bathroom, and while the bathrooms are the part of this hostel that are seriously lacking, I just remember that this is a NYC Hostel and I get what I pay for. The bathrooms are old and you can smell and see mildew and mold in the showers. You must also bring your own soap and hair products as they are not provided. But the hostel does provide you with two large plush clean towels. The hallways and stairs are also old and they do have an odor of being used. But again, you book this place knowing it is a hostel. I have booked this hostel THREE TIMES when I have come to NY for both business and leisure, because of the following reasons: -HUGE PRIVATE ROOM that has comfortable bedding and that is cleaned daily. -Quiet sleeping. -You can not beat the location. On West 14th street you are in the heart of Chelsea, right at the Highline, directly at Pier 57 and a short walk to Battery Park City and the Hudson River Park, and also a nice walk to midtown for shows and Central Park. I love this location and I don’t want to stay anywhere else!! -Also, shout out to the front desk staff. Both staff members are kind and helpful and they will store your luggage for free if you arrive early and are leaving the city late. Just know, again, that this is not a hotel. This is a hostel. And when you adjust expectations and understand you get what you pay for, THIS is the best bang for your buck in the city. I will stay again and again when I come to NY.

we checked in the hotel then we got room on the 5th floor and then we got to know there is no elevator in the building and we did booked for shared bathroom but the toilet was so small. also the room was old and not worth the price i payed. please avoid and find a better hotel. the staffs were nice but no information was shared regarding elevator.
