Aparthotel Mały Kraków (Laris)

Excellent location

This accommodation offers a mixed experience. The location is excellent: just a 2‑minute walk from Kraków Główny train station and a 5‑minute walk to the Old Town. The staff at the reception desk are pleasant. Unfortunately, this is where the positives end. To be fair, expectations should be adjusted, as this is a low‑budget option. The room was extremely small: the two narrow and slightly short single beds were almost connected to each other, with virtually no space on either side. They were pushed against the walls, so it was easy to hit the wall while sleeping. The beds were also too soft for my preference. The building itself shows its age, with visible scratches and dents on the walls inside the room. There is no air conditioning in the building. Late May is probably the last acceptable period for visiting without discomfort. Our room was on the north side, so it was manageable with the windows open. However, the corridor from the entrance to the apartment was already uncomfortably hot, and I can hardly imagine how it feels in summer. The amenities are also quite limited. For example, there was no iron in the apartment. Most likely, there was none in the entire hotel, since when we asked at reception, the answer was that someone had taken it and they could not find it.

Unfortunately, I can't attach photos, but the room I was given looked nothing like the pictures shown on Agoda. I had to sleep with the window open because there was an exposed, uncovered pipe sticking out in the room, and I was genuinely worried that something might be coming out of it. The walls were extremely thin, so I could hear everything happening in the neighboring rooms. The reception also serves another hotel located in the building across the street (where there is air conditioning), which is why the reception shown in the photos is actually closed. To make matters worse, garbage collectors were allowed onto the property before 6:00 a.m. They dragged large trash bins across the cobblestone courtyard during the quiet hours of the morning, creating an incredible amount of noise and waking guests. Another huge disappointment was the breakfast. It was delivered in a paper bag and left outside the room, with the delivery person waking guests by knocking on their doors. The breakfast was inedible. I received grapes that were half rotten and smoked salmon that smelled so bad it was impossible to eat. I returned the breakfast and cancelled the remaining breakfasts on the spot after being assured that I would receive a refund, but I never received it. I only wish I could upload photos to warn other guests about what this place is really like.
