The room was tired, looked a bit grimy. The walls must have been paper thin, as I was woken by steady bonking for a good hour at silly o'clock. If it wasn't so annoying, I would have been quite envious of their stamina! I couldn't adjust the shower head and didn't fancy drowning, so I had a wash down before bed. I found the extra pillow (good), but unlike the rest of the hotel, my room was chilly, the duvet thin and no additional blanket. There was a bottle of mineral water, but it looked like the lid had been chewed by someone trying to open it, so I got a jug of tap water with ice from the restaurant when I went down to dinner. To start I was the only diner, all the tables were laid for breakfast, except for a couple on the left by the radiators. A second couple came in for dinner later. Good points, Lanson by the glass, but the menu was unimaginative and food average. I had visited before, with my husband for a family reunion in the Summer. On that occasion we had a suite and the experience was very, very different. I didn't bother with breakfast, although I had paid for it. Considering how much I was looking forward to returning, albeit on my own as a single female traveller, I was thoroughly disappointed. Room charges for 1 starter and 1 main at dinner, 1 night parking and two drinks (one bar and 1 with dinner) was £66. Be aware, they apply 10% gratuity to everything including drinks and bar is card only. Back to the Crowne Plaza next time I travel there solo.

Good location, room tired, poor lighting, room clean but broken window in bathroom and water marks on ceiling, possibly ftom roof leak, on 2nd night strong smell of weed on 3rd floor, on check out was a resident housed by council for 10days, 1st night smoking weed in room, was evicted but should not of happened

We had a lovely 2 night stay, the staff were great, our room spacious with a really comfortable huge bed. The hotel is period and charming. If you want a sanitised place with no character then don't stay here! only slight issue was breakfast, things ran out quickly and weren’t always replenished even with an hour of over of breakfast dining to gogo.

Was staying for eight nights, and was very happy with the room and the facilities. The staff were generally excellent and very helpful, including the housekeeping staff,and the only exception to this was the man who checked me in on arrival. Not as much as a word of welcome,or a smile, or indeed eye contact of any kind. And most certainly not interested in any form of conversation other than moving forward with the check-in procedure. His only interest seemed to be in getting the form signed, and charging me £96 extra for car parking during my stay. On that subject, the car park charges are extortionate in my opinion, and the overflow car park to the rear is quite isolated and surrounded by trees. It certainly is not somewhere that I would be happy leaving my car. I encountered the same check-in man a few nights into my stay, when I return late at night, and there was only him and I in the foyer. But again he didn’t as much as look up from his desk,or greet me in anyway as I entered, or stood about waiting on the very slow lift. As I say, the other staff I had dealings with were very welcoming and polite, but I just felt this particular employee needs a customer care course. Overall, my stay was very pleasant indeed, and I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel, or to return here in the future. I also felt that the room rate for the period I was there was very reasonable. It is an older style Hotel, but I did not feel it was in any way rundown or tired.
