We picked this hotel because of availability and affordability with optimal location. We just got off of a red eye flight across country and pull up to this place at about 7a- of course this is well before usual check in time.
However, we called after we landed and the staff we spoke to said to be there at 7 and we could see what was available, or if anyone would have checked out. We hoped the lobby may have been open or we could at least get some assistance figuring out a way to get some rest. - even if it meant paying for a daytime rental. We got there- sweating in the Texas heat having not slept in over 24 hrs. We knock… then ring the doorbell… we knock again- there’s no answer- even though the sign literally said that the lobby was open at 7a. 720ish rolls around, door is still locked- we decide to call. A lady answered, said she had no idea what we were talking about, told us she was newer and would have to ask her manager when she got in… we were not given a time and she chuckled when we asked about at least coming into the lobby to stay cool. Most of the time- hotels/motels will at least let you set your luggage in the lobby near the front desk so that it is not with you the entire day. We were just trying to get our bearings.
That was not the case here. It was too late to cancel without paying at this point- so we endured- but this was after we drove a half hour to find a place where we could get a few hours rest. Rooms cleanliness were un - remarkable, nothing special- but some of the worst customer service we’ve experienced when dealing with lodging. Then- at check out, I waited in the lobby for over 12 minutes while two staff interacted and counted money with me directly in front of them-failing to acknowledge me when I came in to check out- would have literally taken 90 seconds… it did not go that way here. We would not stay here again.
