De's Cottage on the River, A Quiet Getaway from the Everyday World

Perfect place for some quiet and relaxation. Great places to visit. Short drive to the ocean. Definitely would stay here again!

We went for a weekend getaway, and a storm hit, but was super cozy. The neighborhood was beautiful to walk with our pup. We really enjoyed it and would love to return.

We had a nice quiet stay at Dee's Cottage. Thanks to Michael for his communications and providing a very comfortable get-away. Even with the rains, we love traveling up to The River during the winter. We were able to stroll the neighborhood, walk down to the beach, and take some nice scenic drives, still allowing for a good deal of down time in the four days we stayed.

We had a very nice stay at De's cabin. It's a very short drive to the cute downtown and Safeway if you need it - and there is a nearby playground for those traveling with kids. Our toddler loved the short walk to the river behind the house to scoop rocks and watch the wildlife -- we saw ducks, cranes, and even a couple of otters. We stayed over Thanksgiving so it was chilly, but once we got the fire and space heaters going, we were cozy. We all slept well. There was a surprising amount of kitchen equipment for cooking. There was a hiccup with the cleaners not coming, but the host was very kind about resolving it. Overall a great stay. We will be back!

We love the place and the neighborhood. Only bummer this year was that there weren’t kayaks in the garage to borrow (maybe they were at the beach?). Otherwise perfect!

Great spot for a relaxing weekend with family. The house is delightful, the views amazing and the proximity to the river/beach a great plus! The house was well stocked with all basics / cooking appliances / gadgets. There are also lots of board games and between the beach, nature walks, cooking and games, we never turned the TV on. Even the teenagers left their phones to the side. Highly recommended!

This is a nice property hidden in the redwoods beside the Russian River. The space is nice and open, uncluttered, and homey. The home is at the end of a dead-end road, so the neighborhood is quiet on this side of the river. The host was great with arrival notes and other communications. We had issues with the proximity of the stove to the smoke alarm, there is no ventilation so bacon and toast set it off. The home is off the beaten path but across the river from River Road, so the road noise was an issue on the back deck. The master bed is small, so be sure you like who you are sleeping with!

Friendly host, easy checkin, good location w easy access to river beach behind home. Second bedroom - you have to cross through master bedroom in and out of room and for bathroom. Spacious great room area, deck in front and back of home. All 3 ladies wished there was a long mirror when getting ready - the only mirror was on a side wall above sink in bathroom (medicine cabinet); we tried to find one to buy and leave at the home but never did. Great having a washer and dryer on the property!

While the cabin was nice and cozy we experienced a lack of attention to detail. The keychain had obviously been chewed by a dog. We discovered upon arrival there was no toilet paper. Called the 2 numbers provided but no call was returned so we had to go to store to buy some. The laminated note sheets were both dirty. No wood for fire as stated in listing. Food in refrigerator/freezer from previous guests. The listing pictures showed a charcoal grill but there was only a small propane grill. (Now we have charcoal that we cant use) . And the beach? Not really a place to go set up your chairs and hangout because no real flat area for that. So while overall we all had a relaxing weekend, not sure if this is a cabin we would return to.

This place was tranquil, inviting, easy to figure out. The bed I stayed in was firm and comfortable. Flannel sheets were a nice touch! It’s a lovely cabin, but honestly the deck out back where you sit and just “be” with the trees was exactly what my heart & soul needed. River is very close - so pretty! I think I should have known from the photos that it was all upstairs, as in there is no ground floor entry, everything has to be schlepped upstairs. Somehow I didn’t realize that though and I’m pointing it out because I don’t see in the listing where it says it either, though again, pictures of the front kinda show it, and people who have mobility impairment - this might not be the best choice of properties. Stairs were open slots and my dog was terrified of them - so she got to learn something new haha! (That doesn’t reflect on property of course, my dog is just a weirdo). The back area down to the river is not really secure. My 56 lb shepherd mix fit through the slats (one was broken off) fortunately she was going in from the river side, not trying to escape. The back fence is deck rail height and a bigger dog or determined escape artist could get out, so don’t leave your pooches unsupervised back there. As I said, my dog is a weirdo & never wants to leave me. It was wonderful to be able to bring my dog, though, & I always feel owners are responsible for their canine friends - just a warning is all. I highly recommend this property to the right party!

I had a wonderful time at the cabin the woods. For over 30 years, I have stayed at Bodega and Jenner every year until now staying in Guerneville- what a treat!while it was intended for a weekend away with spouse, due to work getting in the way, I came solo and the solitude allowed me to read, write, and spend time in nature. It gave me the ability to hike in the redwoods and at the ocean in just a 25 minute drive.( Don’t miss Armstrong Redwood State Preserve)- amazing experience. Then come back to the cabin and put my paddle board in the Russian River right down my own little path. The beach was used my neighbors also renting place but wasn’t a big deal they just used to beach their kayaks. Neighbors were kinda loud first night but 2nd night once they left so quiet. My only complaint, which is one that owners don’t have control over is road noise. I didn’t spend a lot of time at beach other than to have morning coffee which was great because it is quieter in early am and at dusk. Another perk is the car port behind gate to keep car and that my dog could roam around. He obviously felt comfortable as well because didn’t bark once the whole weekend. This cabin has absolutely everything, so cozy, and I will be back for sure ! Thank you so much for sharing this awesome place!

De's cottage was the ideal spot for our escape from the fog and as a setting for a family birthday. Tucked away but close to so much. We really appreciated the semi-private cove.

Come down the stairs to the neighborhood private beach and enjoy the river. The drive to the house is a bit long but beautiful. The house is peaceful and there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy.

The house was really cute. Just wish I was able to stay longer!

As soon as we pulled up and saw our cabin we were so happy we found this place. It is so cool, beautiful, and friendly looking. Very easy process from beginning to end. Hosts were prompt and very friendly for such a last minute trip. House was clean, very open for family eating and hanging out. Had everything you need in the kitchen. Shower even had shampoos and conditioner. Blow dryers under the sink. It was too cold out for swimming during our stay but the walk to the river was so close and would be a primo spot for all day swimming with the family. So blessed to have found this place and make the memories we did. Will be back for sure!

We spent a lovely 3 days at the cottage in Guerneville. Had the fire going almost all the time, but space heaters provided extra warmth. This is a great place for one couple or a small family. The one-bedroom has a nook/room off of it with bunk beds and a sleeper couch, but there is only one bathroom so you need to be familiar with each other. The kitchen was very well stocked and there is a large dining room table for a festive meal. We had a lovely time.

We had a restful and peaceful weekend at Dee’s Cottage. The cabin has everything you could need and is right on the river, which made my pup and I sooo happy. Wish I would have booked a longer stay!!

We experienced a most relaxing stay at De’s Cottage. Eileen and Michael / Hosts we’re most welcoming and available for any solutions to any situations that arose. In other words : No problems only solutions!

Perfect property and location that exceeded our expectations. It was everything we hoped for and more. Very nice that there was enough firewood to last us our entire stay. Very warm and cozy retreat for us and our pet with private access to a private beach on the river. We loved it so much. We will definitely be visiting De’s Cabin again soon. Thanks for having us!

De’s cottage is a little slice of heaven! I’m already dreaming of going back! I have never enjoyed a vacation rental as much as I have at De’s Cottage. I definitely plan to make it our family vacation spot every spring and fall as long as I am able to! This cabin is tucked away surrounded by enormous redwood trees that must be several hundred years old! It’s absolutely beautiful! There is a private beach area on the river, literally down the steps and a few feet away. Right in your back yard!! We enjoyed several hours of fishing, swimming, floating down the river, laughing, played board games and darts, and enjoyed the pure relaxation and the sound of nature! Exactly what the doctor ordered! It’s much bigger then described and the picture do not do it justice!! Of course I brought way too much stuff, not knowing what to expect! Next time I know not to pack the whole house! Lol! They provide everything! I feel so thankful to have had this beautiful experience at De’s cottage! Big thank you to the O’looneys for sharing their beautiful family cabin that has been in their family for over 75 years! I highly recommend this place to everyone! Sincerely,Stacy P.

This is exactly what we needed for a weekend getaway. It’s a small cabin with lots of beautiful deck and a lovely private river access. If I was to own a cabin I would want it to be like this one - so cozy and homey, lots of warm blankets, comfy seating, and games for kids. Close to town and mini golf so we had everything we needed and barely had to bring anything. Thank you for sharing such a warm and loved place with strangers!

The cottage was very clean upon entry and immediately felt like home. All of the amenities worked well and we were very happy with the overall amazingness of this place. Stepping outside, you are met with so much beautiful nature around you. The short walk to the river was peaceful and during the hot days it’s perfect access for swimming. We will definitely be returning at some point, because it was all just wow.

Even though it got to 100 degrees this weekend, we were able to stay nice and cool using the night air and great fans. What a cozy cottage and beautiful piece of property. The Wolf was a great radio station. Our evening walks were peaceful with friendly neighbors, delicious fresh air and tiny flitting bats. We slept great, the kitchen had everything we needed and we felt deeply relaxed when we left. Our teenagers wanted to move in and stay forever!

It’s a great place to stay no frills just a cabin. The owner told me there were mice in the walls on the drive up which was disconcerting to say the least. Yeah there were! Didn’t tell my partner because she never would have stayed there but whatever we’re in the woods I didn’t mind too much. I like the place I would go back-sans mice. It’s a cool spot.

This place is an older, quaint home in a great location near the river. Perfectly quaint. We enjoyed playing card games and taking many walks down by the river.
