This is a great place to stay if location is the main deciding criteria. It’s right in the heart of the gothic quarter and old town, with Barceloneta beach and other main attractions within a close walking distance. The bathroom is shared (but this is the case for most hotels in the old town). But the owner very impressively keeps the communal bathroom and toilet sparkling clean. I visited end of September and I had no issue accessing these facilities. The bedroom is bigger than I expected, with ample storage place and racks to hang your clothes. Some rooms have access to a small balcony which I really love. The “single” beds are actually a lot bigger than standard UK single beds. The mattress and pillow are so comfortable I’ve had such a good sleep during my 5-night stay. It is true that the walls are paper thin (as is the case for most old properties). All you need is some good quality ear plugs and you’re sorted for the night. They do room service everyday and this is something I really like - it’s always spotless clean when I return to my room. Plus on the first day I didn’t know they do this so I left money, wallet and stuff on my desk but the housekeeping ladies are so honest they do their job with great professionalism. I always find my valuables where I left them untouched. The lift is another great addition which is a rarity for these kind of properties. Saves you from having to carry the luggage up three floors. The elderly lady who runs the place is so kind and friendly. I wish I speak Spanish so I can interact with her a lot more.

The check in process was very smooth, and the staff were always quick to respond. The location is fantastic and I never felt like I was waiting to use the bathroom. It was also incredibly clean and I believe I got an even nicer room than I booked, which I am grateful for.

The building is rather hot and noisy, I would recommend good earplugs and an eye mask.
