The One Hostel Hongdae in Seoul - Foreigner Only

First time in the region. The reviews mentioned lots of French people. I didn’t mind but actually the whole time I stayed there was no French people just one it was basically another tourist (I met dozens of people being there so that’s why over time in this stay). People come from everywhere here and it’s easy to talk and make friends in the communal lounge. The good thing is you help each other live in new place while you’re there. It’s easier than trying to figure out by yourself. People usually speak the normal language you probably know like English. I met many people that spoke the local languages like Japanese, Korean or Chinese. Still not bad if u travel alone. You need local things at times and it certainly helps to talk to someone also figuring it out if you’re both not from there. Pretty simple sleeping arrangements. People keep privacy in their rooms. It’s a place to sleep and eat or to rest from the heat in the summer (I was there in summer record heat in Korea). Lots of AC in use at the time. I haven’t been here in winter don’t know what that’s like. The staff are very kind.

Hongdae is great, but it’s like the weekend doesn’t stop. I learned Korean people hardly can digest their beer.

the stairs up to the hostel were very steep, so it might be a bit difficult if you have knee/joint problems

awesome location, fully equipped kitchen very handy for cooking when travelling on a budget

Cheap Great location to wander in Hongdae Close to metro stations, shopping district, bars, restaurants.

Staff was unwelcoming and rude behind guests back. Bare minimum breakfast Noisy rooms
