About this apartment rental

Welcome to "Villa La Loire" ! This large and attractive apartment has a side view on the Castle of Amboise, and looks directly out on its fortifications and the "Tower des Minimes". Its quietness, the vicinity of the Loire river, visible from the apartment (just 50 meters from the house), and its private garden will charm you. The house itself , that dates back up to the 17 th Century ( some peope say 16 th Century), is located in a small street, in which are only two houses, our own house and the Manor of the Minimes, which is presently a four stars hotel. The latter and our house were part of the land of the Congregation of the Minimes, the ancient oratory of which stands along the cliff, in our garden.

Overall, this was a great place for our family of five adults to stay for our four nights in the Loire Valley. The location can’t be beat, although access to it in a larger vehicle is dicey. Parking on the nearby street was much easier than navigating the tiny one-way alleys to get to the parking area in front of the property. Our host, Etienne, was charming and helpful. We couldn’t get a consistent internet connection from the WiFI and he tried very hard (although unsuccessfully) to get it working for us. We very much appreciated his effort, though. The apartment is described as having 4 bathrooms. It actually has one bathroom, plus a room with a sink, shower and clothes washer, and a separate tiny room with only a toilet. It works but it was a little awkward at times. We never got the stove to work, but we didn’t really need it — the microwave sufficed — and we didn’t ask for help, so maybe it was just our ignorance of that type of appliance. There was lots of room to spread out and to kick back and relax, plus spectacular views of the castle. All-in-all, this property is a good value. And for travelers with small children, there was a plethora of cribs, high chairs and toys. Recommended.

This apartment was the perfect location and our hosts were wonderful! We had a 14 month old baby with us and Veronique made sure that we had everything we needed-including crib, high chair, and lots of toys. We loved being so close to the castle and the center of AMBOISE. We would definitely stay here again!

My husband’s parents, our three children, and my husband and I stayed in this beautiful apartment for four nights in August. It is a spacious apartment in a beautiful, historical home in walking distance to everything in Amboise which is a perfect “home base” in the Loire. The apartment is thoughtfully decorated and has everything we needed for an enjoyable stay - even including high chairs and toys and games for the children! The views from the bedroom windows were out of this world. My nun year old commeneted that “it’s like we are staying next door to Cinderella’s castle!” Etienne was so kind and helpful with everything from parking, to sites and itinerary planning, to practicing our French. Before arriving, Véronique was so responsive and helpful in planning our trip. We hope to return to the area and will definitely stay in this property again if available. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Veronique and Etienne were wonderful and extremely helpful. They not only gave us suggests as to places to eat in Amboise and vendors to visit at the market, but also gave us some wonderful suggestions for restaurants in Tours and Paris. The apartment is very comfortable, full of charm and is in a fantastic location. We were able to look out the windows and see the chateau while listening to birds and not hearing any traffic! It was idyllic. We were within a few minutes walk to restaurants, patisseries, the chateau, wine caves, the Friday market, and a grocery store. There were five adults in our party and we all had plenty of space and our choice of beds. The bedrooms were large and the beds comfortable. We did laundry and appreciated having a drying rack. The bathrooms were also spacious. We would definitely stay here again!

This accommodation has everything you need for an enjoyable stay in Amboise. Etienne was very helpful with ideas about the region. Great recommendation for drinks at Le Shaker Etienne! Lots of space to relax - although other reviewers are correct that the kitchen area is tiny. You can walk to everything and the Chateaux views and history are sublime!

Overall we enjoyed this place. It is in the attic of the owner's home but the entry is fairly private. There are 2 flights of steps to walk up. Very small kitchen so we opted not to cook much here. Beds comfortable. Cannot beat the location.

I would recommend this apartment in Amboise. The location is very close to the city center and offers unparalleled views of the Chateau. The apartment itself is a mix of old and new, but it is quite spacious and comfortable. It is on the 3rd floor of the families home, but it is still private. The outdoor seating is very comfortable and the flower garden is beyond beautiful. The kitchen is very small, but doable for cooking a breakfast or heating up a dinner. The family was very helpful, and went out of their way to provide information and even helped us to make a train connection in Paris by helping us arrange a cab. We would absolutely stay here again. Thank you!

We were so happy with our booking, we did not want to leave and we are going to tell our friends about it, so they can book this when they come to the Loire valley. The apartment is very large and comfortable, the rooms are beautiful and spacious, the furniture classy and elegant but functional and practical. The view into the castle is a big plus, with light changing throughout the day. The locaton is perfect, close to center of town, restaurants and cafes, an excellent boulangerie, and the most amazing « charcuterie » with prepared food. The apartment has the charm of a rustic attic with the impressive beamwork of architectural value, the shelves are loaded with many guidebooks of historic interest. And to top it all the hosts are so very gracious and helpful. They know the town and the region thouroughly as well as all the historic, artistic and architectural details of monuments and castles. We would have loved to spend more time with them to learn more about this brautiful region. An elegant unassuming XVI century home providing a truly French experience. A tryly wonderful stay

We spent two nights in Amboise and had a wonderful time. The hosts were friendly and accommodating while the unit had lots of history, character and space. There was space to park our large van and we were able to see the Chateau from all three bedrooms! The unit is on the top floor of the family home, which was built hundreds of years ago and recently updated with modern conveniences. The old home character was worth the stay but came with a very small kitchen - barely large enough for one person to cook. But we had everything we needed so easy to adjust. Loved Amboise and the Loire region and hope to return sometime soon.
