Amazing little place

There was not a thing to dislike

It’s a beautiful & quiet villa with amazing views and super helpful staff. We liked it so much that we decided to come back for 1 more night at the end of our stay.

Staying at this property in Rio was an absolute dream. From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel genuinely welcomed with their warm, attentive, and professional service especially by Em. Every interaction showed just how much they care about their guests. The views were nothing short of breathtaking — the kind that make you stop and just admire the beauty of Rio from dawn to dusk. Whether it was the ocean, the mountains, or the city lights, every angle felt like a postcard.

No elevators. Lots of high riser stairs. Good to know if you have bad knees.

The view from our room was absolutely amazing, which was the main reason we chose to stay at La Suite by Dussol. At night, for sunrise and during the day, the view is undeniably stunning. The breakfast included some exotic fruits which I really enjoyed such as sugar apple - I had struggled to find it while staying at other places in Rio so I really enjoyed that. The location is well guarded by security (add a few minutes to your taxi/uber journey to get through the gates!) and felt really safe. Daniel was very friendly and spoke good English. He made us feel welcome.

The room is pretty dated. It looks lovely at first glance, but on closer inspection it is really due some upgrades. Neither of our lamps worked, and the main light (huge red cherries over the bed) didn't really give out much light and was hanging off the ceiling. In the daytime, it doesn't really matter due to the size of the window, but as it gets dark its very difficult to see anything at all. We had to use our phone torches to see. We did let management know about the lamps, but nothing could be done. My partner found the wires hanging out the back of one of the lamps, which is concerning safety wise that it hasn't been checked. We found (who we presume is the owner or manager of the hotel) to be quite hostile, accusing us of taking the towels we were never given in the first place, and taking items from the communal mini bar without saying anything. If you don't like monkeys trying to take your breakfast, this probably isn't the place for you.

-The staff is very polite and do everything to make sure you enjoying your stay. -The view of the place. -Food was also actually very good. -Breakfast is not the usually buffet which is nice for a change too. -Security at the gated community feels safe.

-Location is far from most places to visit, so make sure to plan accordingly. -The property can use some improvements. -Carpet at the main entrance is very dirty/old and it’s where you receive all your guests who gets a first impression of their stay.

Breakfast was great. A bit more variety would have been even better.

The view. You come to this place for the pool and the exceptional view.

Because of the view, this property attracts folks preoccupied with taking pictures of themselves. And to optimise income the property sells day passes to their very small pool, so that residents are joined by a fresh supply daily of those seeking the perfect image of themselves in the setting. It means that it costs guests $100 to remain at the hotel’s pool for a few hours after checking out to wait for the inevitable late night departure of your flight to the US - if the hotel will allow you to remain. The hotel is in a gated private neighbourhood - without your room key, re-entry to the neighbourhood is obnoxiously challenging. There is one key per room - inconvenient if guests in the same room attempt to return separately to the hotel. There are no televisions at the hotel. It’s fine when the sun is shining and time at the pool appeals, it’s a challenge when it’s raining. Finally, the internet service is intermittent and slow, it makes getting things done on the web difficult.
