The Crystal Lodge Hotel

OK, the room was tiny, it would be a squeeze getting two people and their suitcases in there, but for what I wanted (an overnight stay having attended a gig at Crystal Palace bowl) it was great value for the location. Easy access to the events at the Bowl (450 bus takes you there) easy access to Victoria (direct train) or Paddington (train to Victoria, Circle Line tube from there), plenty of food options between the station 200 yards away and the hotel. The room having a fridge with a freezer box was a big plus too, along with a fan that was useful cos the place doesn't have air conditioning.

Minor gripe that it took me a couple of minutes to get the shower to run at a sensible temperature, but really you just fiddle with it and then it works....

Convenient. Local to shops up on the high street. TV with streaming services you can log in to

No means to access drinking water except bathroom so went to local store

They operate a 24/7 reception which I didn't see that was totally necessary (unless they cater to people arriving beyond standard hours ) - but it was there should you need something or wish to come back late (though your own front door key would do the same) There are two toilets (one with a bath / shower over the bath) ... It was the warmer July '26 and there was a freestanding fan in the room. There was a kitchen for microwave, one table and chairs and you can leave chilled items in the fridge.

In the shared bath there was someones towel on the floor for over 6 hours, the floor was wet as it wasn't delt with. Just as much as one of the toilets had no toilet roll for 4 hrs. While you can ask for items - you don't want to be rushing in and caught out. While the one next door had a toilet roll - if it was occupied - having a bath - then things could get awkward. Assumed there would be an eye kept on the remaining roll and a spare one put in before running out - As Part Of The Service.

The place was near our event.

Advertised as a place with parking, but staff wanted us to park somewhere else that we have to take the car away by 8 am. We informed the staff that we selected the hotel because there was parking.
